Hmm, Annie must have done a pretty good job of subterfuge if her father is totally oblivious.

Here? He's just calling her by her first and middle name because he's annoyed with her. I expected that there would be a point of no return, that he might not have the option to reject her at this point. Or that it would just mean someone else would do it instead.
There were probably so many subjects initially tested that many of the "batteries" were evaluated by other people outside of this group. Annie just set up fake information and went to someone who didn't know her. Most of the information was just name, age, and data. They didn't realize until later that Annie had slipped through under a fake name.

Ah... that would make more sense. Otherwise I'd have expected some comic disguises from Annie.
Still, I imagine that a smart cookie like Annie could get far enough.

"The laser is clearly different as well. I expected it would be something that wasn't created specifically for this purpose. Maybe it's made to test metal plating. ."
Grreeaatttt...
Potential Test Subject:"So how long did this thing take to build?"
Laser Operator:"Not long at all, it was already, ready. We just had to amplify and adjust its output to our needs. "
Potential Test Subject:"So what or where was it before? Seems unlikely something THIS Big was just sitting around waiting for a project like this to come along."
Laser Technician:"Actually, it was in use well before we had to appropriate it for our 'little' test program..."
Project Scientist: "...It was an Industrial Fabrication unit, specifically used in cutting through dense materials like the proverbial 'hot' knife through 'butter'. No way of saying it wasn't meant for this purpose or it was 'safe', Before We Modified it, Extensively."
Potential Test Subject:"(Gulp)...sSo, it fine for human testing? Is-it-SAFE?"
Project Scientist:"yES."
Laser Operator(whispering to Tech):"even so, is the 'new' backing plate going to stand up 'this' time."
Laser Technician(replying in whisper): "it better or its clean up duty all over again, and we both know how 'all over' it was the last time..."
Project Scientist(whisper to both):"i'd rather it had vaporized the last subject, though those two 'growths' right before..well you two know...(they all nod together) almost made the cleanup worthwhile... Almost. "
Potential Test Subject:"What are you guys waiting for, 'hit me'...already, before I loose my ner..nerve."

What I meant was that it's meant to test how a laser beam would react to metal plating. It fires laser beams of various strength attempting to create laser-resistant armor.
This is explained in the next few pages, but they are probably using the laser on a low setting.
I suspect most "batteries" are pretty immune to electricity or laser beams. I doubt there's much chance of them getting hurt if they are careful.

Wait...her breasts aren't going to grow enormous in this version right?
It'll seem kind of gimmicky.

...What I mean is that later in the comic she'll have sort of a growth spurt. It's not impossible it's unrelated to this, it's possible it's something that could have happened naturally.

That's an important question isn't it?
Not exactly, or at least not anywhere near as much. She's going to grow all over a bit all at once (more than 10 pages from now). If you notice she's less curvy overall than in the original comic.
I am worried it'll seem gimmicky, but hopefully not. I had said it would be different, but generally compatible. My other options were to leave her like this (which at least might create problems with her thinking of herself as Jungle Girl), or that the comic would start with her as a naturally busty asian engineer.

It seems to be a stock superhero origin thing, enhanced physical form, just it manifests it in females in more busty/curvy aspects so its not too gimmick. well at least if its not overplayed to old Pulse levels
