EDIT: The will-o-wisp is NOT a reference to the movie Brave! It is a myth that I've known and loved since I was a little kid, getting to know it through the movie Peter in Magicland (german: Peterchens Mondfahrt ), which I often watched when I was in Kindergarten. Ever since then I loved the idea of such magical lights leading the way. I got the idea for this scene before I even knew about the movie Brave. So in case anyone else wants to accuse me of copying, read this wikipedia article about will-o-wisps and then tell me again that Disney has copyright for it (which it of course hasn't): en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Will-o%2…

Don't you just hate it to have a christmas song stuck in your head and it is freaking Septemeber!? Yes, THAT feeling. I'm really obsessed with "Carol of the bells" at the moment, having the song stuck in my head for a few days already, unable to get it out. Beautiful song. good thing is that I don't really connect it that much with christmas, so I guess it's alright?
Anyway, it was so hard to draw this rock-cliff-thing in panel 1 here and it did not even turn out as I wanted it to be. I hope you recognize it anyway, Kiddi gave off a stupid comment about it looking like her blanket, so yeah, i dunno what to think about it.
Also please tell me if it is  hard to read the white text from panel 3 (yes, it belongs to panel 3!). and before I get questions: this is a memory. Something Sunny suddenly remembers. We all know these flashbacks, don't we? well, at least I know them more than well, especially recently. :I
Anyway, you english people have three different translations for "Irrlicht" and I chose "will-o'-wisp" since I remember hearing this word as a translation in Brave when I watched the movie in english. Dunno though. Could also use fen fire of ghost light. Please tell me which one you prefer, since I really had a few difficulties in translating there.
and finally Sunny starts to make a move. she's an adventurous mare, so it was clear that she'd be curious enough to approach this creepy purple light

Brave reference? It looks cool with it, I'm not going to lie. I have the feeling that if you publish this as a comic book/novel, you might need to check this scene for copyright.

are you kidding? this is a freaking will-o-wisp and Disney has no copyright for celtic mythology
I've known will-o-wisps since I was a little kid, many years before even the idea to make Brave came up
I just did have some vocabulary problems since the translator pooped out many different translations and I didn't know which was the right one. In german it's simply "Irrlicht" and nothing else, which is a lot easier to remember if you ask me
plus, I never used any references in my comic. if there are any, then I am not aware of them. Will-o-wisps are connected to Brave, but they are natural phenomena that can appear in swamps every now and then and which are closesly connected to myths and legends since the people in the middle age very so very superstitious: en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Will-o%2…

Totally got a Brave vive there, though those will-o-wisps things always freaked me out. xD RUN SUNNY! RUN AWAY! I wonder where this shall take her, maybe to something that will tell her what her magic is? And happy to see another page from your lovely comic, keep up the good work and hope you stay inspired!

I always loved them since I was a little kid, long before Brave came out.
but no matter what source you're taking, it's proven that they are eventually leading you to something bad, also when it can at first look like it'd be something good

Ghost Light: a light in a theatre to keep ghosts away when people were gone
Ghostly Light: a light emitted from a source that seems irregular
Will-O-Wisp: Little balls of light/fire that seemingly come from nowhere, generally associated with fate and destiny

the word yes (because I'm german and don't always trsut translators), but not the idea. Since I was a little kid I always loved will-o-wisps and even pretended that I saw some on out garden. *nostaligia* I really liked how Brave used them, I didn't see them that often in modern movies in the last years, so it was nice to know that they'd become more known then. bad thing of it: everyone now thinkgs that I stole the idea from the movie I liked will-o-wisps befoe they were mainstream!
