Heh, the title reminded me of this song dedicated to the Australian ibis birds. www.youtube.com/watch?v=mO-OpF⦠(let me guess, most folks in here have already seen this, the artist included?). When I saw that video, I was surprised, because I've always pictured ibises as these dignified creatures, not the Australian counterpart for the most arrogant seagulls or crows. I mean, the ancient Egyptians treated them as holy birds, right? ... But then again, the ancient Egyptians also held the dung beetles in high regard, so maybe they weren't the best judges of dignity

I totally agree with you, this species name is literally ''sacred ibis'' because it's the one Egyptians venerated . So seeing them eating thrash really degraded them in my eyes a bit but not too much. They are still lovely and beautiful birbs <3
