And this is the picture that was supposed to have background fail. But still, I'm kinda proud of myself since I kept fighting for hours with that bg, so I actually HAD some practise, didn't I? Does it matter that it looked better with bg I made in 5 mins? XD

EMERGENCY BACKGROUND TEACHER PRESENT!
Use the Polygonal Lasso tool. Hold in shift to make it follow 0˚, 45˚, and 90˚ angles, then fill with color! If you use the Subtract from Selection tool, you can change the shape of the selection and change colors from there. If that makes sense. Hm. EXAMPLE: [link]
