Have you tried home remedies? Like coconut oil or olive oil with egg?

=0 That's 'cause yer doin' it wrong. xDD
NEVER comb natural hair when it's dry unless it's just to fluff it out with a pik. When it's time to detangle, do it in the shower or bath with a WIDE-toothed comb, while the hair is thoroughly wet. Preferably, also have it slathered with hair conditioner when you comb (to reduce friction). Warm or cool water is best to use: our hair does not like heat.
Try to stay away from that store-bought stuff: it's not made for our hair at ALL. Contrary to popular belief, natural black hair is fragile due to it's unique structure. So it needs wholesome, natural hair products in order to thrive.
I get all my stuff from 'oyinhandmade.com', but basically anything without this list of chemicals will do the trick: [link] . You'll be able to tell the difference: when using the store bought stuff, my hair was always 'crispy'. But when natural hair is taken care of properly, it's soft and nearly cloud-like. Best of all, the proper care of natural black hair is not usually about taking an insane amount of time or using a billion products to do it: it's about switching up your techniques.
I've been natural since I was 14, and I'm an old lady now. If anyone wants more tips or has any questions , just hit me up on 'Notes', or check Nappturality.com.

Ohhh, okay. Lol, it's just that the picture has you combing it dry with a buncha stuff and I'm like, 'Nooooooooooooooooooooooo!' T_T And I get asked about that stuff all the time, so it's turned into a kind of script. Sorry for the assumption.
So many of our women don't seem to realize that it's really NOT "bad hair". It's bad "hair care". ^_^; And we can't help that because all of our efforts in recent ages have been to try and force the hair into becoming what it is not, rather than working with it.
Ahhhh, but it looks like you have a LOT of hair, too -- clouds and clouds of it. *__* It must be so lovely . . . .
/shuts up before it starts sounding creepy. xD

Gosh, tell me about it. Every time I come out of the shower my Nana gets all excited. ^_^;
My hair is big enough that when I give it a deep conditioning, the water weighs it down and makes it reach past the middle of my back. She freaks out and goes, 'Oh, you straighten you hair?! '
Heh, there's a trick to being considerate in public settings though! I used to wear a variety of scarves to make my hair angle downwards during classes. Easy to dress up with a string of beads or shell. And at the movies nowadays, it's a downwards pointing rasta hat. I've three of the finely knitted kind: a bright yellow-orange one, one pale sky-blue and one that's several shades of medium to dark brown, so: hot color, cool color, neutral. Makes it a cinch to coordinate!

Tell me about it. My hair is really thick and curly and like nothing helps it. =n=
So I get it chemically straightened.
