Well, it's quite logical really. If you don't notice that there's a rabbit on your head then either your brain probably isn't functioning as it should, or the situation is drastic enough to distract you from the large rodent on your skull.

No, but that's a common mistake to make. This rabbit only acted as a harbinger of death, it didn't actually cause the death.
