Description EDIT>>>>>IMPORTANT<<<<<<

Okay guys, I'm even updating this so read, it's important.
As you may have noticed, this war has gone a little out of hands, with newly created trolling accounts every now and then -and on both sides unfortuntaly- and it has somehow become a petty little fight. Those trolls will not change their poing of views no matter how much one argues, spams, tries to prove them wrong or even begins finding proofs and "proofs" against them. By doing all of that we're only sinking to their level and not being helpfull at all, rather we're making this whole community seem sorta childish.
I know you will say they started it, I know how much it angers us when they go on and on insulting someone we support and respect, but I think it would be a bigger blow to them that instead of playing their game we find better ways to support Drachea. Enough of this hatred business and let's just keep on spreading our love for his art and ignore the trolls, simply report them if they insult you, block them, but don't give in.
As hippie as this sounds, it's just like the song Armageddon (Evangelion): "You throw a punch and miss, I kill you with a kiss"
Besides, I can assure you Drachea would not be happy seeing all of you who support him getting insulted by trying to defend him, he'd rather see you showing how mature you can truly be.

Ok... I just hope somebody actually read this >-<

---
Most people already know by now what this is about and I already stated my opinion in my journal, but still I will repeat I fully support Drachea Rannak and I completely disagree with the way things happened.
One thing is to report or critique, another completely different is to troll and that's what happened here. I really don't understand why people can enjoy humilliating or trying to hurt another, just to get some attention

For those who don't know what happenned here's his last journal: [link]

Hmm, I had been wondering why I hadn't seen any art from him in my watchlist for a whiiiile. I feel so behind the times. What even got the trolls going? Or is it just too petty and random to attempt to explain? Regardless, it's a shame that had to happen to him, but at least he was hopefully able to rid himself of the problem.

It is sad that he left because of trolls, and will definitely be missed here, but at least he keeps making his arts which from time to time are uploaded in his fanclubs

Btw, I'm slightly curious... Did you have another account before or something? 'cause I noticed this one is very recent and therefore, you wouldn't have known him xDD

Nah, he doesn't have any other account here, somehow I feel it'd be plain obvious, I mean, his style can be recognized in two seconds and word would spread like wildfire xP It's his friends who upload stuff to the fanclubs.

You know after reading so many comments on this issue, I think I concluded something in my mind.

Drachea is not an art thief; but his work should have never gotten that much popularity.
He copied another artist's style, therefore he isn't a real artist. He's just a fan, who has the talent to copy, manipulate, and make some of the pictures he referenced from, better. (yes, I admit it people)
But, the fact that he didn't give credit to the pieces of art he referenced from, pisses me off.

Now, I really don't know how I should feel. I did admire him for his pictures. But, I think the admiration should have been directed to the photographers and artists he referenced from.

πŸ‘: 0 ⏩: 1

RS-Kyra In reply to WineChan [2012-07-13 09:02:51 +0000 UTC]

It wasn't up to him as to whether or not he got popular. It was up to the people to favorited them. Blaming him for his own popularity is crazy.

God, I leave for 5 weeks for exam break and I come back to find out Drachea's gone?

I really hope he see's how much support and love he still has and comes back someday. I loved that guys work and it's a shame we've lost him because of other *COUGH* "artists" *COUGH* attacking him.

Seriously though, who cares if Drachea traced a few poses, clothes or whatever? That's only also done by... oh... I don't know... a couple of other hundred thousand Sailor Moon/DBZ/etc. fans? People just attacked him about it because he was popular and they weren't, it's as bloody simple as that, so they took the first chance they had at bringing him down for other reasons then 'ohz, u're like, so lame'.

But because of their immaturity in not having as many followers or being *COUGH* "real artists" *COUGH*, we've now lost one of what I considered was the best SM fanartist and a generally great artist and guy on DA.

I hope you lot are happy. =/

On a brighter side, this is really SWEET what you've done, as soon as I figure out how to add stamps in, this is the first one that's going on!

I'm amazed that you can have such devotion to a person (Who even I watched, loved his work, etc) who was caught stealing art and ran away because he couldn't take it.

I'm sorry to leave such a bitter comment, but this whole situation is just...

πŸ‘: 0 ⏩: 1

LillumSama In reply to CaptainColorful [2010-05-16 21:39:52 +0000 UTC]

I wouldn't exactly call it devotion. I just continue to support him and he didn't exactly steal art. Alright, he screwed up by copying poses and not crediting. Then he... traced half a foot? I hardly doubt that's reason enough for the witch hunt that took place here. He even did the foot thing on livestream, obviously not considering it was such a horrible thing that needed to be hidden or something like that. In the end, to my opinion, this whole thing blew out of proportion and just became somo sort of holy war :/ and the reason why I made this, to show my support, is because I was fed up with so many people trolling. Some politely made their points and I respect that, not everyones opinions are the same... but some just bluntly insulted him and those who still decided to support him.
So... that's why ^^'

πŸ‘: 0 ⏩: 1

CaptainColorful In reply to LillumSama [2010-05-16 21:44:04 +0000 UTC]

Thank you for being polite in your comment.
He did steal art. He did not trace just half a foot (even then it would be inappropriate!) he traced entire pictures, poses, expressions, clothes, etc.

This is tracing.
Foot thing on livestream? Never heard of it. I don't thing people flamed becaouse of that-- I don't know where you're getting your story.
The only person who blew it out of proportion was himself. He couldn't stand being wrong, so he left.

πŸ‘: 0 ⏩: 1

LillumSama In reply to CaptainColorful [2010-05-19 00:43:40 +0000 UTC]

I will admit that he is a drama queen, we all know that but he didn't leave because he couldn't stand being wrong. He did because flaming got to a harassing point :/ some of his friends got caught in this even when they hadn't even heard about the issue! And I got called names and insulted just for uploading a support stamp :/ That's

As for the tracing... I'll simply leave it with some comments by a fellow artist on her journal a while ago:

"So, the problem really has nothing to do with art thieving or having any negative effect on the original copyright holder. It was the alleged tracing that most people are upset about. People are upset that he allegedly traced, didn’t tell anyone about it, and with those pictures he was on the front page. People feel someone who might have traced on rare occasions does not deserve to be so popular. Most people probably wouldn’t make such a big deal out of it if someone unknown traced, never told anyone about it, and then put the pictures on the internet. So, the real issue was the fact that he was popular, or more popular than them… And some people just can’t stand that…

Let’s step back a bit and assume that some people were not upset because he was popular, but were genuinely disappointed because he might have traced. For all we know there is no prove that he traced anything other than that foot... Even those overlaying pictures do not say much when transferring techniques such as the β€˜grid system’ exists. By using the grid system an artist would have been able to achieve the similarities shown in the overlaying pictures without any tracing. And I know that all of you know he is beyond capable of the grid system. The difference is that he probably didn’t use it because tracing in photoshop is much easier while achieving the same purpose. What’s the point then to bring up the grid system? Of course it is to show that he is absolutely capable of producing the same exact artwork without tracing. Not that any observant person wouldn’t know that already by looking at the rest of his gallery. And he only did it for convenience if he traced. Is convenience such a bad thing? I think he livestreamed himself tracing the foot is exactly the proof that he was not trying to hide the fact that he occasionally traced. And it shows that the reason the Pluto picture was not stated as partially traced was due to negligence rather than purposely trying to hide the fact. He did put up the statement after it was brought to his attention. So why was it such a huge problem?"

So yeah... that pretty much sums it up. In the end I don't think he is an art thief, rather a fanartist who really admired Takeuchi. For as long as I can remember, his female style has always resembled hers but with his own unique touch, because really... it's too easy to see the difference between original pieces and his work.

Why do you support some talentless hack "artist" who traces?

deviantART: Where thieves and rulebreakers become objects of worship by those who seek "omg kawaii" and "shiny desu ^_^".

πŸ‘: 0 ⏩: 1

LillumSama In reply to xx-Cygnus-xx [2010-05-16 21:32:18 +0000 UTC]

Easy: He's not "some talentless hack artist" as you say. Yeah, he screwed up at times, he's only human, but did recognize his mistakes and I don't find it fair that it caused such a witchhunt . Lot's of guys here are his students, people who know him real-life and can testify to his talent.

Oh what lovely language.

I'm not talking about myself. You came here first. You accuse his supporters of being "thievery supporters".

His supporters know a lot more about him than you do. People have watched him draw live. So before you calling people "talentless hacks", do your research. He's only shown to trace a few images. Think what you want about him. Until you can prove all of the images are traced, you have no business spreading trash talk to his fans.

We don't support thievery as you initially put it. We support learning about the whole situation instead of basing a decision on a small batch of images.
