I restored your poetry to the deviation... sorry about you losing it.
it's crazy out there right now, an entire team under my supervision is sifting though "Artistic Nude" removing work that is no longer acceptable for that category (aka: erotic).
as you know, i watch, and love you work, and i am sorry you lost your poetry... sometimes when you are digging through 14,000 deviations, someones stuff gets misplaced...

So, is everything that dosen't exactly into category just going to be erased? I've already had one of my images removed, and my brother is waiting with baited breath to see not if he gets a deletion, but how many...and he's not alone. You have a lot of really good artists here who basically expect their galleries to be decimated by the new rules...isn't there another way this could be handled?

I don't understand why the news post will come after the mass deletions begin...and they are mass -- i've heard from a dozen different artists just today, who've had work removed already.
In addition, where do you put an image which is frankly (and intentionally) erotic, but has no nudity? Expressive? Portrait? Romantic? Boy, the people who go there expecting to see nice polite images are in for some surprises, don't you think?
It's looking to the rank and file that we're going to have to start finding other places to show a lot of our work -- it's just not welcome on DA anymore...but it will be humourous to tell people "this image got deleted because it didn't have enough nudity!"

Actually... things are getting put right as we speak...
look... i'm the one directly in control of whats going on with nudity at deviantART, and erotic and fetish are my domain... so, anything you have to say on the subject goes directly to me. I was there when they changed Erotic to Artistic Nude, i was there when we set out to remove non nude work... a mistake because in reality, it's not even what i wanted, but had been in the books for a change for MONTHS, and was never worked out properly...
I stopped the mass deletions because i agree with you 100%. I'm working out a plan to keep an Erotic category, probably called somthing like "Erotic Portrait". You and your brother, and everyone else involved need to understand that people are idiots, they submit stuff to the wrong category constantly, were not devizing a way to toss you guys out of deviantART, and were not "covering our asses" were trying to make erotic and nude submissions for refined, and more artistic... weeding out the camwhores and lude senseless porno from those categories, this take TIME...and were learning as we go...
This will be sorted out sooner than later, because i'm working around the clock on it...and i HATE leaving things with lose ends, expect some information, or changes soon, and i promice, we'll find a place for you work, i'm sorry this is going to take a day or two, when you work with others over the web, there are no such things as "business hours" you have to wait for people... somtimes days at a time.
I'm working my ass off for you guys because this matters to me too, as a nude photographer... I don't want to see you, or your brothers work lost from deviantART forever... give us some time, and you'll have an awsome site to load up to... i promise.

move them, there wont be another erotic category...and they will get deleted by an admin over time (more than likley) ...expressive should be fine...

So what's going to happen when people report images that used to be in the "erotic" section as "porn"? You do know that's going to happen...a lot. Are these images going to be unilaterally deleted, just like always when our work is reported as "porn"? Or are you going to be watching over that category too?
My brother and I keep hearing from admins that all this is being done for "our" good...that the only images in danger of deletion are the ones that have "no artistic merit" -- but this just isn't the case. The fact is, the only people who seem to be affected are the people seriously practicing erotic art. Maybe you haven't seen it, but it's all over the site: There are a lot of artists who are disappointed, confused and even a little deceived. We placed the images we didn in the "erotic" section because they belonged there, and now with the flick of the switch, these images simply don't belong anywhere on the site -- yet you keep telling us you want us all to stay on the site...how is that going to work out? How are things going to be "great" if we have no way to accurately categorize our images, leaving us open to a constant threat of deletion for inappropriate placement? Maybe i'm missing something, but there just dosen't seem to be a lot of logic in what's happening around here right now.

All i can tell you is this: Some erotic images of good merit were removed on acident before i had a chance to trian my staff... THats should not be the case anymore. All that should be getting removed now is the crap with no artistic merit. But lets face it, some people are going to get caught in the corssfire...as i said before, anyone with issues needs to speak to me directly, you keep saying "a lot of people" ...well where are they?... i don't hear form them, and this is my area of deviantART.

I can tell you where they are -- they've pretty much given up trying to have dialogue with anyone in the administrative end of DA. Both myself and my brother have had very, very unpleasant experiences trying to communicate with people at the "help" desk regarding deletions. The responses we've gotten have ranged from simply being ignored to outright hostility. My brother once was threatened with banning by an administrator when he tried to get to the bottom of a deletion. I'm sure you have nothing to do with this, but the fact is there are a lot of people on your side of the fence who have let whatever power they have over the site and it's content go right to their heads.
You keep saying that all that will be removed is the "crap" -- but who gets to decide what the "crap" is? One of the things that made having an erotic section so nice was that artists like us could submit our work there without having to worry about the thinner-skinned members of the site coming after us. If you need any indication of what that looks like, you should look in my brother's gallery at images like "Ursula," "Corsage" and "Curve" to see what people will do and say about images they think are "crap" -- now that a specially designated area of the site for this sort of work no longer exists, what's to keep them from returning with a vengance? Are you going to be there to protect our work when another admin agrees that it's "crap"?

I'm getting tired of going over this so Iβll lay it out for you in a few basic bullets:
1) Iβm the only person you need to talk to, not the help desk (just gets diverted to me anyway)
2) For the time being, submit your work to Artistic Nude... it will be safe there, and Iβll be the only one reviewing it. You asked whose opinion it's based on? ...Mine, Iβm the only admin in charge of nude/erotic/fetish submissions at deviantART. For the next three or more weeks, I have a small team, and they are tasked to remove most of the "crap" which I don't need to define for you, you already know I have good taste, and respect work like yours and your brothers. Also Iβm not in charge of my superiors...and a few of them remove what they feel is not acceptable, but never do they remove work because of where it's submitted...
3) Erotic is not coming back... don't wish... just submit it to another place, and hope for the best. Be thankful that were not just telling erotic/nude artists they can no longer submit. I keep telling you, you're not at risk, this means if I have any say, (and I do), Iβll keep your work up if I think it's acceptable... Iβll even undelete work if it was wrongly removed, but you have to NOTE me... thatβs the way it works... either communicate with me, or drop it.
If this doesnβt cover your questions at this point, then note me... Iβm not going to make myself blue trying to explain this anymore... ok?
if it's nude, erotic, or fetish... then it's MY area... regardless. And i think i've proven countless times i'm a reasonable person to deal with.
