Kind/Good-hearted/Nurturing/Naïve/Self-conscious/Easily Flustered

Even with the way she was treated in her younger years Hana was able to still have a good outlook on life and not blame the world for her problems. Though her bullying could have lead her to grow to be pessimistic and cold towards others, she was able to realize that even if the world had dealt her these cards she could make the best of it. Instead of showing hate for people she showed kindness and a sweet nature of talking to people to further educate and teach the young children who visited the shrine of the right way to treat others. Hana likes to see the best in people which on one hand is nice but also extremely naïve of her, so this leads to her not seeing when others are tricking her. With anyone there is a level of self-consciousness of their appearance, her scar doesn't bother her as much anymore, it more of her tiny ears that she is more aware of, she doesn't feel that the size of her ears doesn't help with the fact that she is herself small. Because Hana is so naïve and one would say innocent, the littlest thing can fluster her and send a red shade to her cheeks, wither it be the touching her ears or even simple flirts, there is no hiding her emotions when it comes to things like this.

History

Hana grew up in Mizuyama, it has been the only home she has ever known, her family was in no means well off, she never knew times of hunger though, her parents made sure of this but, in making sure she had food on her plate the issues of clothing could never be taken care of. Hana wore the same old Kimono day in and day out, she thought nothing of it until she began to be bullied for it, not wanting to bring anymore stress to her parents, she kept it to herself. Hiding the bullying from her parents began to become more difficult as the bullying got worse, hiding scraps and cuts were easily disguised as just playing to hard and not being careful, it was when the bruises became more frequent that her parents wondered what was going on but, Hana quickly dismissed it as just rough play.

The year of Hana's 10th birthday was the worse and final year of the torture she had lived with for the past few years. She had finally grown tired of her abuse and one day when walking home from school her bullies cornered her, when she fought back, she gave one of the bear girls a black eye in anger and pain the girl used her magic to turn herself into a full on bear and with one fell swing it was over. Hana let out a scream of pain and quickly put her hands to her right eye as she felt a warm liquid touch her finger tips, she had never felt such pain before. At the sound of the scream and site of blood the bullies quickly ran away leaving Hana where she stood clutching her eye. She sobbed as she tried to make her way back home, when she got there her mother greeted her as she always did with a sweet smile, which was quickly replace with utter horror at the site of the blood that now covered half of her daughters face. Her mother rushed her to the closest doctor but it didn't matter, the doctor told her the bad news that her daughter Hana, would forever be blind in her right eye.

She was never bullied again, people had to much pity for the sad little girl with the blind eye, so much so that all the other children would leave whenever she came over thinking that she obviously would want to be alone, that she would be too afraid of the others. The loneliness that Hana felt for the next 3 years felt endless, only being pulled out of it when she spent time with her parents but, as they were always working those moments became fewer and fewer. It wasn't til she heard a nagging voice in her head telling her to venture out to the shrine that she finally got herself out of bed, upon listening to the voice, Hana came upon the shrine and its attendants at hard work. She watched as they spoke to each other and carried out their tasks, they seemed like a community, it peeked her interest, could this have been what she needed? surely they wouldn't turn from her as well. Upon further investigations she found that they had an opening for a new attendant and she jumped at the opportunity and has been there ever since, the position has helped her break out from her shell.
