During the time Inkopolis Plaza was booming, Gorden spent most of his time tending to his parents. Both participated in the Great Turf War, but unfortunately was diagnosed with cancer at a young age. Sadly, they had lost their battle by the time Gorden was old enough to battle. After giving them the proper sendoff, Gorden became worried about his own health, knowing the condition can be passed down. As a result, he vows to keep himself in excellent shape.

Splatoon 2

Gorden continued to take proper care of himself as the years go by. He remembers how both of his parents worked really hard to care for him- all while fighting their battle with cancer. Ever since their passing, Sunny, Gorden's cousin, took him in and helped him cope with his loss. Eventually, Gorden believed his parents want him to keep battling and fighting on. Gorden formed a team of his own when he got better at battling and treated them all as family. No one knows of his loss and his cancer risk besides Sunny; he wants to wait until he's fully ready.
