Maria was very popular among the Octarian Army. She's well-known for her bubbly personality, but is a pure menace when it comes to battling and loyalty. As a result, she became an Octoling Elite. Anyone who slacks thinking she's lenient learned the hard way that's not the case. After coming in contact with Calimari Inkantation, Maria realized there's so much more to see and do. She quickly disappeared from the Octarian Army. No one knew where she went, but most assumed she used her sneak abilities to reach the surface.

After living frugally for a while, Maria had to sneak some food. Unfortunately, Gorden had spotted and confronted her. When Maria tried to escape, Gorden easily trapped her. Impressed with his skills, Maria decides to come clean. Gorden took her in until she could afford a place on her own. Ever since, Maria deeply respected him, and joined his team in a heartbeat the moment she got the word.
