Personality
:
Bold/Confident: Bonnie is a raccoon who knows who she is and is confident in her abilities to impress others. Having lived with humans and always impressing her human companion, she isn’t afraid of anything bigger than her until such time it becomes a threat. She also has an air of confidence to her, suppressing any shaking in her voice when speaking to others - even if she is actually fearing for her life.
Friendly/Outgoing: If she’s learned one thing in her short life outside of a human’s house, it is more friends makes life much easier for her. She’s willing to speak with any creature that could be a potential ally and is more than happy to approach someone wandering she thinks might be helpful even if the other party doesn’t seem interested at first. Bonnie loves to talk and to help others if it means she gains something in return so she uses this trait to her advantage often.
Adaptable/Hardy: Bonnie has had to make some tough decisions after leaving her humans but the tricks she learned from them and her quick-thinking mind have given her the ability to be adaptable to her changing environment as well as to survive difficult situations. She enjoys tackling challenges and solving problems to make her life better.
Inventive: With her oppose-able thumbs, Bonnie knows how to use these and with her cunning mind she can create rudimentary objects to assist herself and others with a problem. She’s created sticks for hunting fish and has used human clothing scraps to gather items more easily. When she has materials and a churning brain in the same space, she’ll try to create something to help her situation. Not everything she creates is a success however - but that doesn’t deter her from trying.
Self-aware/Cowardly: Despite being bold and confident, Bonnie knows where her faults lie and her shortcomings. If she’s threatened by a larger predator or senses danger, she’ll immediately flee to the safety of the trees. If there’s no tree nearby, she’ll seek out other protections. She also knows what she can and cannot make with her limited forepaw dexterity and will refuse to attempt to make something that’s beyond her abilities.
Cunning/Manipulative: Bonnie doesn’t have a strong sense of allegiance for any one creature, though she’ll swear fealty to a group if it means self-preservation. If she’s presented with a situation where she can gain something from another, she’ll try to trick the other party into going along with what benefits her. She’s also able to figure out ways to gain access/retrieve things she really wants - though not every plan always goes as it was supposed to, which results in Bonnie getting into tight situations from time to time.
Crass/Self-Interested: Bonnie has a foul mouth and an even fouler sense of self-interest, not caring much about those around her and their feelings. She’ll often tell things as they are or curse someone out if she thinks they’re being stupid about something (so long as she thinks she can get away with it). She also really only engages in things she thinks will benefit herself - which only sometimes benefits others. She’ll definitely steal from a friend if it meant she gained something she desired.
Volatile/Spiteful: Bonnie can quickly flip a switch from the friendly/outgoing creature she normally is to a violent and spiteful beast when wronged. Bonnie is a raccoon that never forgives and never forgets those who have wronged her and she’ll do everything in her power to enact vengeance upon them. She’s also prone to violence in retribution, sometimes pairing this volatility with her inventive nature when her opponent is larger and more powerful than she.

Pre-Group History
:
Bonnie was born to two raccoons along with her other siblings in early spring one year. Her home was under the porch of a human’s house that didn’t mind the family living there. She grew up relatively normally to adolescence when a trip across the street brought a terrible end to her parents. They were hit by a car, Bonnie barely being missed by the vehicle and she lay on the ground in stunned shock. The homeowner rushed out to check on the raccoons and found only Bonnie laying there in shock and took her into her home. Here, Bonnie was given the name she goes by - Bonnie after the infamous bank robbers Bonnie and Clyde. What happened to her siblings were a mystery to her but they and her parents were quickly forgotten as time wore on.
The human and her family were friendly and caring to Bonnie, feeding her food she found tasty and teaching her things she learned to mimic from watching the humans. She learned to wash her food to protect herself from illness, learned to create rudimentary items from the human’s kits and also learned how to open doors and cabinets to gain access to tasty food and other things. This was also where she learned her fascination with shiny objects, hoarding them in the cat tree the humans bought for her and swatting at anyone who would try to take them away from her. She learned to love her humans dearly and grew into a large and healthy raccoon during her few years living inside the home.
Unfortunately for her, this was not truly meant to be.
A new, disgruntled neighbor moved in and discovered the raccoon living in the home, reporting them to local animal control. Strange humans showed up and put a strange wire on a stick around her neck and Bonnie could not escape. She fought wildly as her humans shouted and cried at these interloping humans. Eventually Bonnie was placed in a box with a hard metal gate that she couldn’t unlatch before carrying her away.
She never saw her human family again.
Eventually she was let out of the box in a place she’d never seen before with trees and grass as far as the eye could see. She couldn’t spot a single familiar structure anywhere. The humans that released her banged on the box to spook her away and she ran to the trees that vaguely reminded her of her cat tree at home. It was several days of moping before she finally decided it was time to take charge of her life.
In the wild, she fared fairly well. She learned how to gather food and through watching other creatures and raccoons she learned what was edible and what was unsafe. With her knowledge learned from humans she used leaves and trash to help her gather food as well as craft a warmer nest. In time, she found a wild raccoon who took interest in her and her true learning of the wild began. Soon she was able to catch fish with a stick and hunt some smaller animals, as well as the best places to find edible insects or trash to eat. She learned of the rangers and their strange nests and would pilfer things she wanted from them. Things were beginning to return to normal.
Eventually she had kits of her own with this new raccoon friend. But one day while she was out scavenging at one of the ranger stations her family was attacked by coyotes. She returned to blood everywhere and no sign of her family at all except for grizzled remains. It reminded her of the day her raccoon family died to a car. She once again was in shock and grieved for days before deciding to move on and find a new home to live in.
Her trek has taken her to the northeastern side of the sanctuary and here she continues her life but she tires of caring for herself alone. She seeks company and comfort again and is on the hunt for friendship and protection that will hopefully last.
