Hatter25 prompt: "rescue".This is the follow up to "water" , and the second of a three-part story in pictures -- Reggie saves Alice after falling through an icy pond. I TOLD you she'd be okay. I hate unhappy endings, so I try to never draw them. And hey, it's Disneyland; there's always a heroic stag around when you need one.
I was heavily inspired by Jeff Smith (Bone), and Bill Watterson (Calvin & Hobbes). I feel like I'm really terrible at the comic format, especially dramatic action sequences, so this was a huge success for me. My only regret is that Reggie's freckles were lost in the strict black-and-white. Lord, I do love those freckles. (This was meant to be in black-and-white, and I'd like it to stay that way, please.)
I'm so pleased with this I could spit.

breathtaking..really it is. even though there are no words you can just FEEL the emotion radiating from the panels. you can see how the cold wind is whipping his hair around, and just hear him screaming for help in that second panel. pure genius i must say.

Man, Reg's face in the first panel made my insides all clench up... D: And I mean that in the sense that I really felt for him. He looked genuinely panicked and I hate seeing that look come up on people.

its kind of funny in a sweet way, let me explain.
here he is, saving her all dashing and loving and what-not...but hes not the generic looking hero. hes gawky and looks funny and in a normal circumstance hes a complete goof.

i can definitely see the jeff smith influnce in this, bravo! I love the panel of the deer running, with the birches reaching down...just stunning!
If you like smith and watterson, check out doug tennapel. His graphic novels are amazing and heavily watterson influenced.

I am so happy - SO HAPPY!!! When i saw this I was incoherent, squeeking like a frantic mouse, my husband didn't know what was going on with the strange half formed words, i couldn't help myself, my heart was just so full, nearly bursting with excitment and happy panicky thrill. The danger, the trees, the expressions, the quiet snowy background...What can i possibly say that no one else has already complimented on?

I think you did a great job with the action. As always I love the facial expressions too. Is there anything you can't draw? By the way, if you really want the freckles in there you could try thin little ellipses to indicate them.
