Part 2 of my tutorial! Now that we have covered how to draw the eye, it’s time to add some color to the iris!

Coloring the Iris

I use three tints/shades of the same color for an iris.
The Main Frame color should cover the top portion of the iris, while accenting the bottom outlines and the pupil.
The space of the iris that isn’t colored by the Main Frame color is reserved for the Primary Tint, which is right below the pupil.
The “Cresent Moon” tint is pretty self-explanatory. Just draw an crescent moon shape that points upward in the center of the space of the Primary Tint

Additionally;

Most importantly, you can’t forget that special twinkle in the eyes, so paint a little white oval on the right side of the iris.

To prevent the eye from looking flat, make sure to add shade under the upper eye to enhance the sclera. You can also add shade under the eyebrow to enhance the eyelid.

I also made a little color palette list to show how the tints/shade of each color could appear if added to an eye.
