I remember the faces in the trees and all the stories they'd tell me, some were smart and some were tough, but all were watching as I grew up.

My contribution to 's 'Kaboom Collaboration - Childhood Poster'.

Now for a little bit about this picture:
When I was growing up in England I lived near a few forests and was often going on camping, so I have always been surrounded by trees. My parents and their friends used to say that if you looked hard enough you could see the mischievous goblins who play tricks on the human folk!

I didn't quite carry this message to heart but my blissful imagination as a child created a world in which I saw these 'goblins' not as menaces, but more like gargoyles who guard forests and the children in them.This idea also crept into my mind because when I was a kid, we weren't allowed to go past two of the trees on our street, because it wasn't safe beyond that point (both ways went out onto a main road) haha.

I still look for these creatures now in NZ and I really feel they have influenced my art content hahaha.
