hi, i come here via #Realm-of-Fantasy 's critique request folder.
there is an inherent feel of enchanted adventure by the choice of subject as well as the dreamy, rainbow color palette.
i'm a cat lover and naturally i cannot resist any adorably pretty cat that is well drawn, especially its big, round, sparkling eyes and soft fur. the kitty is really well done.
the background with all the small little details on the creatures in bizarre colors also add to scenario. curious kitty is going on an adventure~!
one nitpick is the manner the kitty stands on the leaf. a large part of the leaf is not visible, the floating sensation is hence not so obvious but that is really minor, and does not take away from the whole picture.

This is so adorable! I don't think I'd be able to do anything like this!
I love the cat's big black eyes and his little paws. His colour is so beautiful and helps (along with the composition) to make him the obvious subject of the image.
The variety of colours and creatures makes it a really stunning scene, and very difficult to critique. That said, here are a few things I've noticed that might be improved:
- the water looks a little muddy and opaque, but the fish at the left make it look like you meant for it to be clear. I'm not sure exactly how to fix it, but I'd try hinting at the topography of the the stream bed (are there stones? sand? critters?).
- some of the elements of the foreground look a little tacked on (the hummingbird and flowers, the snail on a vine). The cause for the humming bird is its black outline (unless it is supposed to have a dark aura?). I think the snail on a vine would look more integrated if the vine weren't popping out of nowhere. There could be vines climbing the sides of the cave or plants on the shore by the starfish.
Things I love:
- the beautiful, rich colours
- the lighting is like a dream
- this reminds me of some of the more beautiful children's books I had when I was young
It's a wonderful pic, that isn't in need of critique at all - still I hope you find my comments useful. I really had to look hard to find things to be constructive about.

I'm glad you found my comments helpful! I can't put my finger on any one book it makes me think of, but some books that inspired me:
- The Magic Paintbrush (Robin Muller). The whole thing is just stunning.
- The Balloon Tree (Phoebe Gilman) has a lot of the vibrance that I notice in your work.
- The cat floating on a leaf reminded me of a version of "The Steadfast Tin Soldier" we had, but I think there are a few....
- Anything by Graeme Base is gorgeous and has a lot of animal pictures.

You have really good points!
-For the moment, I added more water over the fish, so it's more consistent with the opaque color : ) This is one of the areas that bothered me somewhat too. Hopefully I will add more creatures/pebbles soon.
-I made the areas about the creatures (hummingbird and flowers) lighter per your suggestion.
-I added some vine on the left side, but it may be too subtle :' (

Ok this is my first time doing this so here I go.........
This is really amazing! It just blows my mind away. The kitty is so cute and the eyes look like as if it's going to cry. The cave is very realistic and everything is just beautiful.
The scene looks so amazing and the creatures in it look cute! The water is amazing in so many ways.
The technique is just wow. I don't think I can do anything like this. The shading looks amazing and the details are wonderful.
Everything is just so stunning to me.

Adorable as always! The cat looks like it's just like, "wtf is going on, man?" and the colour scheme of it reminds me so much of like a watery, feline alice in wonderland when she's following the white rabbit.
I love the mixture of the colours in the water and the little fishies and snails and birds. They're all so cute! I love how you can't really see past the tunnel. It makes me wonder where the cat came from and what other sorts of mystical scenery he (or she if the cat is a female) saw and experienced. It's a simply stunning piece of art. [:

This is so adorable! I t reminds me of Thumbelina when she is in the river. I love all the colors you have in here, especially in the water. gorgeous. Is this watercolor? And is that your cat? very cute. love the big baby eyes. I really, really love your use of color. I wish I could color things!

The little critters that are pulling the leaf are nudibranch and sea hares.
