This is for one of my real-life friends (I have a coupla those, too! Who knew?), Lisa, though she was more my ex, Carolyn's friend.
No, it's not any Lisa's on dA. And this is not a portrayal of Lisa, but rather a girl she asked me to draw.

The basic specs are: A girl who's a cross between Jewel Stait, Kate Becensale, Angelina Jolie, and Milla Jovovich, (while studying the faces I realized they all have similar bone structure and lips, so i used that mostly) with long wavey red hair, not rail-thin, and not with huge breasts or necessarily a "perfect" hourglass shape, sitting on her right leg leaning her arm on her left leg and looking back over her shoulder.

I hope she likes it. I whipped it up all today at work, hehe.

Between calls (or during calls - How would you feel if you called for internet technical support and the person helping you was drawing fat naked chicks all the while? Huh? Haha!) and breaks and lunch i'd say i probably spent roughly 4.5-5 hours on it (my work day is 6.5 hours ... .5 is lunch, though, so 6 paid hours). Probably a half-hour on the body and line-work, and the rest coloring (plus about 5 minutes at home finishing up the tattoo).

Even though this was a request, I had a lot of fun with it because i could instantly visualize it. Because she was so specific in the instructions it was so much easier to do. If i have to create something from scratch using another person's general idea, i'm going to procrastinate and most likely never get it done.

So, people, if you want to make requests of me: be specific, tell me the pose, tell me the body specs, try to think of having as little clothing as possible in mind for your character (and if you have to have some clothing, be specific about them, and don't make them too complicated), and don't ask for anything super complicated! Cuz again i'll delay and delay.

That, i think, is the key to it all. If i have to use my own inspiration to create someone else's idea without specifics, i will just put it off and put it off. So let that be a lesson!

Overdue Update: She liked it, but it wasn't what she really wanted, and asked me to try it again. And even though i am never able to get myself to re-do drawings (except of my own choice, usually several years down the road), i tried to re-do it to her more precise precise description, and it just didn't work. No matter what i tried, it looked ghastly. So i never made another version for her. Especially not after spending so much time on this one. It's the reason i can never put my art to work: i do not copy my own stuff (consciously). Plus, if i'm working with someone else's idea, and if they don't like it i lose all interest, all inspiration dissipates, shuts off, and any attempt to try and remake the thing turns out terrible and cheap-looking. So, now i don't even bother to try. I know myself. I know my patterns. If i'm not into it, i'm not into it, and why would i put time and effort into something i'm not into?
