Since it is now technically 2011 where I am, I thought it would be appropriate to post my collective cosplay history of 2010 as my first deviation of the year~ It's been a pretty hectic year, with 39 cosplays/shoots in total! x_XIt's always good to look back at what I've done in order to look forward to how I can improve, so, thank you everyone for your support so far, and I hope to continue to work hard in 2011!
As a side note, if there are more pics of any of these cosplays that you guys want to see, please feel free to tell me! I am terrible at having to pick and choose, and I have such a massively huge backlog that I don't even know where to start so... 8D; Feel free to spam requests at me!

I usually work with a tailor to produce the bases of my costumes, and then do all the detailing and props on top.

It's actually relatively common for Asian cosplayers to cosplay many things; it's a lot easier to gather the materials, wigs and props needed since they are located close to the source of manufacture. Some of my friends over there actually do even more cosplays than me in a year! XD;;

yeah, I often see asians do a lot of cosplays in one year. I think it's cool.
For me, There are many things that I would like to do but we doesn't have enough meetings and such and it is also expencive. So seeing so many makes me jealous (;

I wish I could continue at that rate but now that I'm back in the UK, it's pretty difficult lol.
It's much more convenient and it's much smaller there, so it's easier to organise shoots or cosplays. But sometimes, too much of something makes you forget how special and fun it can be when it's a rare occurrence, so it's not really a bad thing that cosplays are infrequent here. XD;

Anyway I know what you mean, I havn't done one cosplay since April. Feels like such a long time so now I really wait for when I'll have time and can cosplay again [SOON!]. As for you, I hope you'll be able to do all the cosplays that you want this year too! your warchers benefit from it too P:

Thank you, and due to time constraints, I actually work closely with a tailor for the bases for most of my costumes, and complete them with the details myself afterwards.

WOW~ That's amazing 39 Cosplays/shoots in one year and I think You look great in every shot! I'm so fascinated to how you and your friends find such beautiful places and props to take cosplay photos with. For me I've always find it hard to find the right place with the right lighting as well for a photo shoot w/ out spending so much money. Some times me and my cousin would look at other cosplayers photos and wonder OMG where do they live b/c I want to take a Cosplay photo there too lol XD~
My Cosplay GOAL: MUST COSPLAY WITH LINA-LAU ONE DAY~ when I get better at it X3 (no scratch that I am not worthy~ T.T)

For me, I think the location and background is very important - why go through all the effort of making the costume and make up etc, when the photo that documents it won't do it justice? There always has to be a compromise I think, if you don't want to spend money, then something will have to give, and usually, its the quality of the location etc.
I try to do my best to find suitable locations, regardless of the price (of course, it can't be ridiculously expensive, but I'm willing to put in quite a bit of money for a good bg), since I think that it will be worth it for the overall result, otherwise the money spent on wig, costume etc will be wasted as well, which is why I travel a lot for my photoshoots. In fact, quite a few shoots were taken in other countries, since HK really doesn't have much in terms of good locations.

I agree~ The background definitely plays a significant part in a cosplay photo and not just always the costume itself. WAAAH~ I think you're so amazing and lucky~ I wish to travel around one day and take epic cosplay photos like you too ^_^! However, money is always a problem for me T.T gotta find a very good paying job first before I think about traveling and cosplay XD!!!
Oooh off topic but I saw your Havi from Crimson Spell Cosplay~ I was so shocked that you came to Yaoi-Con 2010, did you get to meet the Artist of Crimson Spell, Ayano Yamane? I read that she was guest of honor for Yaoi-Con 2010!

Actually, I went to Ycon just because YA was guest of honour, and was lucky enough to meet and chat with her for a while. She's really one of the authors that I respect a lot, since she not only does great work, but is very good to her fans and readers; it was an honour to be able to meet her in person.

Though just the props and wigs and additional trimmings etc take up quite a bit of time as it is~ But I guess if you have the passion and the heart, we can all make anything happen if we want it bad enough. xD;
Oh, now that you mention it, I haven't posted any Hakuouki on my DA. 8D; I'll post some Hijikata after this then~~~

Yes, I can believe this takes up quite a lot of time. Making clothes for my BJD takes week, and that's small scale. Free time to dedicate to hobbies, alas, is a luxury.
Anyway, I truly love your cosplays. Crimson Spell in particular, but then again, I am a Yamane Ayano fan, and Havi and Feilong ARE my favourites.

Well I guess it's easy to get stuff done and get photogs here for shoots... plus there are a lot of events throughout the year so most people tend to cosplay quite a lot!
