Description Another dog portrait commission finished. And again three Dogue de Bordeauxs. I actually know the dog in the middle, Diesel. He's only 6 months old and a very kind dog.
The one in the left corner is his mom, Lutz, and the one in the right corner is his father, Papa Joe. They still live together in the same house and will stay together untill they die.

All are the same breed, yet their faces and expressions are so different. Very unique dogs.

Derwent Watercolour pencils on Daler Rowney heavy weight paper, 30x40 cm (12"x16").

I love that they are all slightly different in their colouring and expression. Must be a challenge to draw 3 animals of the same breed together and making sure they don't end up looking too similar! The fur texture and eyes have won me over here...

It always is a challenge, but its no problem as long as I have good ref pics to work with. Plus I actually know the youngest of the dogs. That always helps too. Thanks again!!

Wow! They actually look as if their in a photo or something, if it werent for the fading on the water colours.
You are sooo good at dogs, i hope that one day i can be as good as this, though i dont have a chance, but i can dream. x3
Beautiful dogs, and yes, they do all look very diffrent, i almost mistook the one in the middle for a chocolate lab xD

Thank you very much. Trust me, it all comes down to a lot of practice! You can do it.
Dont let his owner hear you thought he was a Lab! A few weeks ago someone mistook him for a Boxer pup...

Schitterend gedaan, Linda. Het valt me op dat Diesel een lichte neus heeft. Komt dat omdat hij nog jong is ?

Dat klopt, Diesel heeft wat ze noemen een rood masker ipv een zwart masker zoals zijn ouders. Vandaar ook zijn lichte ogen en lichte neus. Dit blijft zo als hij volwassen wordt.
Tegenwoordig worden Bordeaux Doggen steeds meer met rood masker gefokt en komt het zwarte masker minder vaak voor.

Thank you Tanya. Cats are still hard for me too, maybe because of the lack of form. They are always very round, I find that harder then a dog or horse. Would love to see Randall done by you!
