Description Pen and ink ( Rotring isograph pens )
13cm x 20.5 cm

I almost went mad doing this picture and to a certain degree I think I may have overdone things with the background. I am preparing a coloured version on the PC at the moment and possibly going to crop the image for a better composition. I would have entered this under the fantasy category except the submissions page won't let me at the moment.

EDIT Managed to edit the info so it is now officially fantasy rather than psychedelic

*jaw drops. That is ...wow. the style is lovely and the details on the wings are great too (especially given that they're done in stippling). The plain white circles are a nice design element that helps it from feeling to heavy.

i think i saw this back in 2005 and thought it was amazing

Beautiful piece. You have a very special style, which also shows in your other works. I like how you place the head in the lower part of the piece and work upwards with the details. I don't think you have overdone the background, to me everything comes together perfectly in this piece.

This is a true masterpiece, something different, eye-catching, original, that not only bleeds skill and talent as a fine piece of art should but that speaks of something mysterious, something with heart and soul. God God--with the stippling and...the stippling...my God, but this is amazing. It reminds me of some of the books I read many years ago with amazing covers. Pen and ink like this is so time-consuming yet it tends not to get the props it deserves here on DA--congrats on the DD. You deserve it.

ouch. That is a crazy amount of detail. You did a wonderful job at it though. The skin is smooth and the wings look like they're about to flap. Great job. This is definitely one of my new favorites. with all the stipling (sp?) i would go crazy too. i once did a pointlism piece of some guy in a magazine, about 8.5 x 11 inches... i didnt even fill up the entire page (most though) and by the end i was going insane, lol.

Oh yeah...especially in the bits where you are just doing a flat area.....and you have to pay attention to how well spaced your dots are.
