Memento mori - "Remember you must die"I've been studying arts & crafts for a year now, and this was my final project; a series of drawings depicting the phrase "memento mori." This is part two, originally named "Age," representing a person's life - growing up from a young boy (eye on the top) to an older man (bottom eye). The crows, eating away at the heart, symbolises death.

Nicely done great technique. If it were me I would improve the contrast a bit, making the brights brighter and the darks darker.

I liked your drawing...and I liked the idea too...You know, I read something similar...it is an old story about a king who had a dream, that he was hanging in an old well with a rope. at the end of the well there was a huge snake waiting him to fall, and at the other end there was two mice black and white who eats out the rope...the dream was interpreted to him that the rope was his life, the snake was death waiting for him. The white and the black mice are day and night eating his life....

That's kinda awesome - I've never heard the story before, but my first idea for this piece was to draw a white dove and a black crow eating the heart. All I'm missing is some evil creature waiting for it to fall down.
