Description
Just messing around trying to see if I could do something more painting like. This would've taken far less time if I'd figured out the colors before hand but live and learn I guess. Not super happy with the scales on the lower jaw but the more I messed with them the worse they seemed to get. Anyways as always helpful critiques/thoughts are welcome.*Edit* Still have a fair amount of fixing up to do on this but felt like updating it for now.

About the helpful critique, I think the only think you can try to improve, are the flakes; compared to the whole design they look a bit "flat" , I mean with a shade/brighten play you could easily make them a bit more "3d" and improve the creature ♥

Wow, this is so cool! So much emotion in the creatures face. Loving the colours and those teeth, also the design it's self is just awesome.
As for critique, I know very little about creatures so I can't help with the anatomy or any kind of structure... however I do feel all the edges around the creature are too sharp? I think it's because there are not any sharp edges on the inside of the creatures shape, so he looks cut out of the frame rather then part of it. If you added more sharp edges to the creature and/or blurred some of the outside edges it would fix the issue I think. Personally I think the edges in shadow would be the best to blur, keeping the lit edges crisp.

Hmm yeah I see what you mean there, I'll attempt to fix that sometime later this week if I can and update it. ^^
I think another problem is the canvas size, I might make it just a smidge longer in width, that snout is just a bit too close to the edge for comfort...
And thank you kindly for the critique it was super helpful! I think I stared at this for so long I started to overlook other things so it's great to have a fresh pair of eyes to check it out and tell me what's what.

Yes indeed, though I still want it to be a tight focus, so I've extended it about half and inch and it looks much better in that aspect. Indeed it is super awesome, thanks again!
I've also started to do as you suggested by softening the outer edges a little bit and already it's looking much improved. I'll try to work on the shadows tomorrow. ^-^
