Every once in a while I get an itch to draw something and my muses kick and bite me into drawing despite things like homework, studying, work and school that should be holding my attention. What caught my itch this time was *Redbuzzardd 's beautiful oc and fursona, Red.It has been awhile since I worked with reds colors so I enjoyed trying get those jewel like ruby tones. The dun undercoat gave me a real challenge, it seems my oil pastels do not have a color close to it. Picture was mainly done in oil pastel, I used color pencils to make the "mane" and get the fur and eye detail. Watercolor and ink for the background, and white acrylic for whiskers and white highlight in eye.

Thank you, from my reference picture I tried to see all the subtle changes in fur direction and then carved it out of the oil pastel with color pencil. It is a rather fantastic technique.
