Lineart for my next piece, starring Kasumi from DOA. After three abandonned Kasumi images over the last year, plus a completed one that I'm no longer particularly happy with, I think it's time that the arguable favourite babe of the DOA series gets a pic worthy of her beauty, from me . Hopefully I'll get it right on this one. As usual, drawn in Photoshop 7 with good 'ol WACOM tablet.

This completed pose is pretty much what I had in mind when starting, but originally, I wanted to put her in her extremely cute C11 outfit from DOAU, which is the pink top and skirt one, and she'd be lying on the grass. As big a fan as I am of her in that costume, I just liked what I'd done with her body when drawing it out, and I guess my male instincts took over, and I decided to give her a bikini instead XD;. That C11 does deserve a pic though, sooner or later. Anyway, after that I gradually developed the idea that it'd be interesting to have her lying in a shallow river, with rocks and water all around her, instead of just plain old grass. So that's what this will be when coloured, hopefully.

Obviously that's gonna be quite a challenge, and the first time I've gone "head to head", as it were, with CG'ed water, close up, and I'll need a tutorial or two to aid me. Still, this pic is all about me challenging what I'm not so good at, so I can get better at it. First of all, Kasumi herself is tough to draw (properly), particularly her face, and while I admit, I normally just find a suitable screenshot of the girl's face and essentially trace over it, then alter the expression, this time the face is all me! I did use a screenshot for reference only, plus an eye guide as to how they should look at that angle, but I arranged it all my myself, and I'm actually really pleased with it, considering I'm not great with faces. Took a while to decide where her eyelashes should go without looking weird, but she does look very sweet, I think ^^. I particularly like the mouth too, which was surprisingly easy to do.

Another thing I'm not so good at normally is hands. Whenever I try them I can get so frustrated that I just end up pushing them out of the pic, or hiding them away, but I was determined to get them right this time, and I think I did! Bikini's (and clothing in general, actually) can be a bit of a pain too, but I'm happy with what I've done here, and it actually look like she's wearing it comfortably. Having her hair tied back like that is probably my favourite of her alternate hairstyles from DOAX/U, so I knew I wanted to do that from the start.

So what do YOU think? Please tell me, cos I really like this so far, and if there's something really off-putting about it that I haven't noticed, for the love of GOD, let me know!!.. Heh. Seriously, it would help me alot. I'm starting to think maybe her left eye could be lowered a bit, and her right forearm looks a bit chunky. Tell me what you think, both positive and constructive comments are welcome!

... And I told myself not to go on with another lengthy description. Takes me at least half an hour to write these XD;. Oh well, I like to give details, and either way, it's not like I'm forcing you to read em.
