Description With the wings I really have to take a step back to fit this guy in the picture! The wings are actually the most complicated so far, as I am trying to keep them as light and thin as possible.

Thanks Β
The last steps always seem to be dragging along though, because the details are so intricate and take much longer than blocking out the basic form. The molding process will also be a challenge, but that's part of the fun

Very good job with the dragon, the images in the background are also entertaining in that they mirror my own attempts at learning anatomy.
I can relate on the wings, whenever I try to make them thin they tend to break so easily (have you thought of making them from a different material?)

I did, but I don't really have a problem with them breaking; there's an armature underneath
I just don't want them to be very thick, and the armature helps. It's just a bit more difficult to get the surface smoothed down.

really nice job so far! have you heard of sculpey light? Β Its a little harder to sculpt with than super sculpey but is a lot lighter. It might help you with your wings if their too heavy.

Yes, I have heard of it, but the weight is not a problem, I have an armature underneath.
It's just that when you look at the wings they are supposed to appear light as well instead of looking out of proportion because they are too thick.

ah I see, you could sand them down after you bake them. thats always annoying to do though, and the dust gets everywhere.Β

You mean the wings? I'm not using Polymer clay, I'm using Monster Clay. It's an oil-based, wax-like clay, so it doesn't harden. Plus, if I did them in polymer clay, baked them and then sanded them down, all the texture would be gone
What you see here is just the base, the wings are being detailed as we speak
