hey guys this was just a picture I did for my friend of her character Xullrae and Horock De'ath played by and © RichIt was taken from a scene in her log entry
Xull'rae then whirled on Horock. She was so close to him that he could feel her warm breath on his skin. Her face, he could see
very clearly even though the hood was up; she was angry but still so beautiful, it made the breath catch in his throat as he tried to pay attention to her words. "Rule of thumb twit, thieves care for themselves first…others second…I'm not slacking in anything… Do you understand? The Shadow Sorcerer said to teach you, but lessons end for the day. Got it?"

First of all, I must say how much I like this one. You have brought such emotions and raw feeling out by just a simple look. Even without understanding the story the viewer is able to pick up the type of characteristics each character has.
The coloring and shading is very nicely done and the techniques you used suit the work well. The clothing may be a bit simple but it helps focus your attention to the characters, while the added points of details, the silver pendant comes to mind, gives the viewer something more to look at. the background too is well done this way, while being subtle enough it still gives a good idea to the scene and adds to the atmosphere. I also love the added colors in their eyes and her lips. It really makes the piece pop.
A bit of critique though. While this looks just lovely I would suggest fixing his ear just a bit. There should be just a bit more attached to head above the lobe, if you get what I'm saying, and perhaps, just move it up just a smidgen. That's the only thing that strikes me when I looked at it. But every artist has those little 'fix ups' and would only take a few minutes to fix.
Over all its a very striking piece and one of my favourites of yours. Well done!

wow thanx heaps for the lovely comment Leah. I got a very good response for this picture. I was quite suprised. I wasn't sure about Xullrae's mouth at first but it is growing on me. Oh yeah I have been told that the ear is abit low. It is ok to pick out my flaws. I know I make heaps of mistakes and I appreciate the help and experienced insights

Normally I'd just gush in a comment, and I apologize in advance if you do not truly seek a rating and a critique. Overall you captured my scene beautifully. You even gave a silhouette background of the inn they are in and I didn't even ASK for that. This means you went above my request for details and shows you saw more important thing than I did. I'm very impressed!
I think even without the text, this scene speak highly of your ability to capture emotion and facial expressions. This is by far the best picture of Horock ever done. He is not a llikeable character by many, but here in his face I see confusion, fear, and beauty I never saw before. You did that. You brought that out. The personal touches you added to Horock and the contrast between him and Xull'rae are very interesting. You matched my words well and with the details of the inn around them, I commend you for you attention to the original.
You are your own critic to your coloring style. Here I see realistic detail to hair strands, cloak folds, and even the woodwork. Not to mention the difference in the two drow skin tones. I think Xull'rae's mouth is fine. She looks pissed, her lips look sneering. Her eyes help to overlook any flaws her mouth may have. I personally love Horock's eyes the color you used is just spectacular!
My project is very near and dear to me and as such I may be biased in my review and rating but this is a good scene. It's the details that matter, not how well it is shaded or colored and in that regard you did awesome. I couldn't ask for better.

Hey Lisa. Thanx heaps for critique. I realy appreciate the insightful comment. Especialy from the creator lol. first of all I was happy with how the background kinda made the picture look more alive. Even though it was rough I can see it complimented the scene. I am not very good at reading descriptions but I put in elements that I thought would be in an Inn and I do remember the mention of stairs. I kinda had a feeling that they where ever all the way down or half way down lol. i can't remember. But becuase I wanted the audience to be able to see other patrons I decided to keep it that way. I am realy glad you liked Horock. I had abit of trouble with how I positioned him. It took a while to get the angle of his body to look better. Also I must confess that I had trouble with the colour of his skin. I know it was suppose to be grey but I thought the lighting in the establiment might add a different hue to it. I know that Xulls is purple, grey but I may have done her too lightly.
As for Xull. Wel Xull being Xull she gave me awful trouble right from the start. One day I would love to get her mouth right. I know you have given me a comic version of how it would look. Do you have any reasitic versions stashed away by any change. She is one tough cookie to crack. But I do like the way she stands out.
I can tell your story is very dear to you. So another fan art to add to your collection

What really stood out to me the most were her eyes, followed by her expression in general. Maybe it's her lips that have the greatest impact. Either way, this made me immediately curious as to what was going on, and pulled me in to look at his expression too. Very nice way of telling a story with no words. Beautiful coloring, gotta love the background. Excellent work, buddy.

Well I may have another picture coming out in a little while... I've been really busy with commissions and haven't really had much time lately to do any personal work. Although I may post the latest commission as I haven't posted many of them lately.
