Description aaaaeeey, back at it again with the weird posts! and a little xmas treat for you guys. like said, i wanna post something before i leave the state for the weekend.

so, most of the aircraft on argonus are entirely based upon our real-life aircraft (at least in my story cannon, could be different in an AU or something), and i plan to keep it that way. though, key word on "Most of the aircraft". why? well, even though argonus seems to only have real-world aircraft, a variety of conditions factors lead to the planet also having it's own unique aircraft, brought on by the constant interbreeding between different elkinet species.
the intercrosses are those hybrids. going by many, many other names, such as regional breeds, royalty breeds, mix bloods, etc.., they are defined as being "a population of very similar/practically identical aircraft whom are a cross between two or more species (commonly three to four)". intercrosses, while theoretically could be any sort of hybrid, are often a mix between different aircraft of the same region/area. as for how intercrosses come to be, it could vary; sometimes it's purely a byproduct of interspecies populations, other time the intercrosses where partially or even fully intentionally bred into existence.
many intercrosses also tend to suffer from health complications, some more than others. intercrosses also tend to have a livery of their own, which i did depict here.

anyways, here's some of the more well-known intercrosses of argonus:

-SRU-25 nightjar
the nightjar is a cross between "the black four", that is the sr-71 blackbird, b-2 spirit, f-117 nighthawk, and u-2 dragonlady. they stand around the same height as a blackbird. the nightjars have a rather long-ish neck and tail, a combination between the dragonlady and blackbird ancestry. in addition to the long body, they also have the head of a dragonlady. the wings seem to take a mix of dragonlady and spirit relatives, being long and jagged, but also a bit curved. finally, the nighthawk ancestry comes in with both the engines and the overall tail shape. no surprise, most nightjars are black in color.
nightjars were one of the intentional intercrosses. in a practice known as "royal intercrossing" (How the hybrids initially got their name), emperors and empresses tried to avoid inbreeding as much as possible, so instead they would marry and have children with similar aircraft. in this case, it was those four aircraft because of their (commonly) black liveries, as well as association with royalty.
the nightjar is one of the more healthier intercrosses; their only concerns is with fertility issues, as male nightjars have a slightly higher chance of being sterile.

-Anleed Brosno
another intercross hailing from royalty, the brosno is the cross between the three largest aircraft of the old world: the an-225 mriya, c-5 galaxy, and an-124 condor. physically speaking, the brosno doesnt look too far from either three species, perhaps because all three already have rather similar builds to each other (ignoring wings, tails and lengths). it's believed, though, that they do have the body of a galaxy. the brosno's size varies between the three different aircraft, but to nobodies' shock they are absolute giants regardless. in addition, they have the long, three engine wings of the mriya. their tail looks very much like that of the mriya with the vertical stabilizer of the condor, making it a triple tail shape. while taking on all the liveries their relatives have, their own unique livery tends to be gray with a red stripe down their sides and a black nose (as depicted above).
brosnos, like the nightjars, where bred out of royalty as a means to prevent as much inbreeding as possible. however, unlike the nightjars this still led to inbreeding, as many lrussese rulers saw the brosnos as "lacking purity", so of course they wanted brosnos to get together with other brosnos, even if it means marrying one's relatives.
because of this inbreeding, brosnos often suffer from alot of health complication. most of these issue are age-related health issues that hit them earlier in their lives, such as heart diseases, cataracts, ect. they are especially susceptible to arthritis, something that larger aircraft in general tend to suffer as they get older.

-XB-61 distelfink
the distelfink is the work of northest amerigia's three largest bombers: the b-52 stratofortress/buff, xb-70 Valkyrie, and b-36 peacemaker. in the grand scheme of things, the distelfink is basically an elongated buff; longer neck, longer tail, longer body. even the nose is elongated, making it look almost "wolf-like". however, it does have the canards of a valkyrie, as well as the rounded vertical stabilizer of the peacemaker. they are one of the largest aircraft from mainland northest amerigia, as they are slightly bigger than the b-36. unlike most other interbreeds here, they don't have a specific livery to them, rather they tend to be the various liveries of the three bombers.
there are two main subspecies/races of distelfink: the southern g-race (xb-61g), which has the sharper, more textured face of the southern buffs (b-52g), while the northern one has the rounder, smoother face of northern buffs (b-52a). the distelfink's history is rather murky at best, but it's commonly theorized that they were initially a regional intercross as a result of the three bombers living in mixed populations.
while they do suffer from age-related issues earlier in life much like other larger aircraft, distelfinks are also more than likely to be born with "weakwing", which is basically when the engines dont produce sufficient power to take off or fly. they are also commonly born with a snaggletooth, having their canines sticking out of their mouth. these on their own rarely seem to cause any issues.

-RQM-67 basilisk
the baskilisk is bizarre in the fact that it consist of more than three different drones species, with only three of which are identifiable: the ncsist cardinals, rq-11 raven, oq-2 radioplane, the desert hawk, and some kind of small/pygmy relative of the mq-9 reaper(of which is believed to be extinct). both the baskilisk alongside the other four drones are not only the smallest drones, but also the smallest elkinet species on argonus. as a matter of fact, the baskilist in of itself is the smallest of the bunch, with even the largest adults only standing around 2ft tall. the rqm-67 look pretty much like a mq-9 reaper with a push-pull engine configuration. most commonly, the baskilisk will have a gray-camo livery.
the baskilisk, alongside it's relatives, originate from the tiny island of Rogdeginta. while the island wasnt safe from the ogrinistic explorers, the drones that lived on the island were for a time being since the explorers didn't see them as slave-worthy. as a matter of fact, what miniature drones did get captured where brought to the royals, where they were kept around to give that extra eccentricity the places wanted. until humans arrived on argonus, only on their home island and in the palace of royals were where you could find the miniature drones. nowadays the smaller size of human architecture has lead do the miniature drones spreading across the globe.
the baskilisk, like many other tiny aircraft, tend to have a low endurance when it comes to flight. however, like the distelfink, they also sometimes suffer from weakwing, making some individuals practically flightless.

-F-24 baycat
yes, argonus does have a stealth version of the tomcat....kinda. the f-24 baycat is the cross hybrid between the f-14 tomcat, f-35 lightning, and the supermarine scimitar. it is essentially a tomcat with the engine intakes of the schimitar and the cockpit and angular built of the lightning. the baycats aren't not too big, and tend to be around the same size as the smaller f-35 lightning. a baycat's unique livery consist of a black body with a blue stripe up the nose and down the back and tail. sometimes, individuals may also be piebald (like seen above), or even albino.
the baycat originated in the middle sea; more specifically, on the island of bayana, a tiny island off the coast of eastern lagusain. this island's population consisted of all three of the baycat's relatives, as well as the baycats themselves. the baycats were often assigned by the island's king to be gaurds and scouts of the trade routes, being sent away on ships to guard their preciouses cargo of herbs, spices and jewls. even today, many baycats still chose to do these same jobs as it's a strong part of their heritage.
most baycats seem to be rather healthy compared to other intercrosses, however they also have a higher chance of being born albino. being albino tends to bring some vision-related problems, as well as some individuals having a high sensitivity towards light and being more easily sunburnt.

-AG-13 leopard
similar to the baskilisk, the ag-13 leopard from northest ameriga is a cross between more than three different aircraft. in this case, it's a mixture between several different agricultural aircraft (airtractor and grumman ag cat being two major contributors) and the rb-57 canberra. by appearance, it has a generic agric's body with the wings of a rb-57, and standing around the same size as an airtractor. they have both a slower prop engine as well as two faster jet engines, though because of the different speeds they tend to use one or the other when in flight. however, beyond the body plan one of their most recognizable features is it's leopard-like livery; it is monochromatic, with black/darker-colored spots and white/lighter-colored underbellies.
like with the distelfink, there are two main races: the southern "A" race (ag-13a leopard), which has a sharper, pointer face, and the northern "B" race (ag-13b snow leopard), which has a more cylindrical face. while the specifics of their origin is still a big mystery, it was well-known fact that they were once important messengers/travelers, having a high flight endurance than most other agrics. this was especially true once eroonians explorers began to explore and make settlements in northest ameriga.
compared to all of the other intercrosses, they are by far the most healthiest, as they don't suffer any major health issues beyond what is normal for the average elkinet.

ok, trivia time!!!:

-because of how hybrids/genetics work for the elkinets, the intercrosses dont need to seek out the same species, as there's still a decent chance of having an intercross child regardless.

-elkinet have a specific kind of gene known as the species gene, which determines what species and/or hybrid the child comes out as. this gene can come from as far back as one's great grandparents, though most commonly the species/hybrid is determined by just the two parent.

-there are a couple real-world aircraft that are intercrosses in argonus. dont ask, i'll probably draw them later.

-intercrosses also extend towards other aeronoids, though it's most often in captivity and very rarely in the wild. this is especially true to stunnits and avibels.

- the youngest of intercrosses can date back to at least 400 years ago (roughly the 2100's).

idk what else to say. also, i was gonna link some Wikipedia pages, but my computer suddenly remembered that it lags on this site. oh well, hope this doesn't happen again...
