Description Rachel Furukawa was a businesswoman who made a six figure salary, had a nice home and a loving family, yet she wasn’t happy. She felt so exhausted with her job, the cutthroat world of business had left her utterly drained. The long hours she worked meant she couldn’t spend much time with her family. She couldn’t remember the last time she smiled, let alone laughed.

One fateful day, she came home after a long, hard day at work, feeling utterly exhausted. She was about to go to bed, when she spotted a strange package on her doorstep. It was wrapped in Colourful wrapping paper with a polka dot bow. Attached to the box was a note.

“Hi Rachel!
It’s me, your coworker, Betty! I’ve noticed that you seem quite sad lately. I felt sorry for you, so I’ve decided to give you a gift! This gift is guaranteed to bring happiness to your life, inside and out!
Yours Truly,
Betty

Rachel ripped open the box to find the strangest sight: a pair of clown shoes that seemed to have an otherworldly glow to them. She wondered why Betty would give her these, until she felt a strong compulsion to put them on. She slowly slipped off her shoes and gently placed her feet in the shoes. She stared at them, wondering how these were supposed to bring her happiness.

Rachel started walking up to her bed, having a hard time walking with the shoes on, they gave her a rather goofy gait, she suddenly slipped on something, and flew way up into the air, landing on her butt. She looked around to see what she slipped on, only to see a banana peel that must have fallen out of her trash can. “I slipped on a banana peel! Like a freaking cartoon! That’s… pretty funny, actually.”

Her face then did something it hadn’t done in lord knows how long: it began to crack into a smile. She began to giggle, and as she giggled, she began to feel really silly. She looked in the mirror, only to gasp at her reflection. She was now wearing a pair of stockings along with her new shoes, and she was wearing a bright polka dotted clown dress! Her confusion began to give way to laughter. “ I look so silly!” She said, and as she giggled, she began to change more in front of her eyes. She gained makeupp on her face, her hair braided itself into pigtails, and her nose became a large pink ball. She giggled more and more, laughing at how silly she looked. As she began to spin around. It was then that she suddenly began to get worried. “What if my coworkers see me like this?” She took off the shoes, and instantly the rest of her clothes turned back to normal. She stared at the shoes, smiling softly. She thought to herself “I can’t wear these all the time, but they seem to not only turn me into a clown, but make me compelled to laugh and smile! I think I’m going to thank Betty in the morning.” She went to sleep, feeling a sense of relief that she could now be happy, even if only for small periods.
