I've watched the first clips of the show and didn't think the animation looked bad at all. I guess you can still kind of detect a little bit of that awkward Flash movement sometimes, but I've seen a lot worse looking cartoons than this, so I'm actually quite happy for this show.

His nose could have been like Taka/Scars so that atleast one of the cubs had noses Like Simbas father if I guessing right, with the so called outlander noses, and his eyes could have been green, so that he could look like Ahadi, and then again not, but he is still cute anyway

It's absolutely wonderful news! I've waited for this since 2002 when I saw 'The Lion King' and 'Simba's Pride' in the first time! They're best Disney cartoons I ever seen and I hoped for actual 3rd movie - not a midquel. And now it will be - new movie first and TV show next!

I personally can't wait for this. I know people are nervous about this show, but this won't be the first time Disney Junior does a kids show that borrows from a Disney classic.
SOFIA THE FIRST pretty much borrows from every Disney Princess they have and JAKE & THE NEVERLAND PIRATES is inspired from Peter Pan. And last time I checked both those shows were hits.
As long as they give THE LION GUARD the same treatment they give those two shows, it should be fine.

I mostly enjoy shows/movies/books/etc for their content and story over visual style, but visuals are still very important and I can understand your concern. I personally like one or two current flash animated shows, but it's not necessarily because of the animation. The new MLP for example. I find the show itself fun and featuring a good story, but the animation certainly isn't much to look at. It's fun and colorful, but the G1 animation was beautiful (which is why I love looking at some of the traditionally drawn fanart for the new show). You could see the hard work put into it. To me, classic animation (digital or drawn) will always have a higher place on my list. I think the reason for so much flash stuff these days is cost. This show is for little kids, who probably care little about the animation, so it makes sense. Both sides of the argument are valid I think.
In general, Lion King will always be one of my favorite animated films, so I might casually look at the show just to see what it's like. I like the idea of the Lion King getting some kind of presence in the modern age.
As for you image above, amazing as always. You certainly captured the look and warmth the original Lion King had, while still giving it your own creativity. I was confused by the paw mark on the shoulder at first, but then I realized that's part of his in-show design (not sure how I feel about that but you make it look good). You're an artist in every sense of the word and I hope you keep up the great work. Can't wait to see what you make next.

Totally understandable! Nobody should hold that against you. I know I won't. So far, I know of only one show I won't watch due to the way it looks (Code Geass). There are probably others though. I'm sure it has a good story, I have heard it does, but the style just bothers me. Oh well.

I hear it does! The style just sort of bothers me. Maybe some day I'll watch it. Just figured I'd give an example of my own animation prejudice so you don't feel bad about having your own. I can't really say what my favorite animation style is though. Maybe the style from Land Before Time? But that might just be the dinosaurs (I love dinos so much). Lion King is certainly up there. I love how they actually moved and looked like real animals (especially Scar, favorite design in the film), while still being anthropomorphic and very Disney. Evangelion also has a style I enjoy. Very realistic and dark yet obviously anime.
So many kinds of animation. I don't now if I can really say what my favorite is. And that's just traditional animation. Digital animation is something I enjoy, with things like the dinos from Jurassic Park or films like Finding Nemo, but it's on a totally different playing field. I don't like comparing digital animation to traditional animation because, while similar in many regards and requiring just as much time and effort, it's not the same. It doesn't look the same. As I mentioned before, even flash animation does it for me sometimes, being cute and soft with things like the new MLP, but again, I can't compare it. In the end, they are all animation, but different as well. Just as you and I and everyone else are human and yet so very different.

Point is, I'm glad to see someone with their own tastes. Your style is always one I enjoy, and I'll cherish the picture you did for me forever!

I was told by a Disney animator that it looks like this film will be animated with Toonboom. And likely it will be animated frame by frame, unless someone discovered how to make a puppet rig.

And I thought Lion King was cornered on the market already. Can they not just put it to bed already?! Walt himself would be very upset with this profiteering oportunism that's become the main mindset of the heads of his company's board today. >_< I thought I had closure fifteen years ago, damn it!

С одной стороны, кое-что в этом отношении радует. Давно чувствовала, что Симбе с Налой следовало бы обзавестись ещё одним потомком - молодые здоровые львы, как-никак. Дизайн не опупеть как оригинален, но приятный, разве что "отпечаток" на плече малость неестественно выглядит, но кто знает, может, это такой символ команды... кстати о команде - её разношёрстность порадовала, на львов мы уже насмотрелись, а ведь саванна не одними ими населена! С другой стороны, страшновато. Анимация сейчас переживает не лучшие времена... Не запороли бы франшизу...

Я боюсь только флеша( Ненавиижу флешовые поделки, так как это мертвая анимация(
А сюжет в общем то мне окей, толька вот боюсь что анимацию испортят (мне уже не нравится палитра Киона, потому покрасила его здесь по своему)
