Given Kaa’s size and Bagheera’s immediate fear and surrender, he’s eaten far bigger meals: deer, wild pigs, even crocodiles.
And you dont comment on how delicious something is unless you’ve eaten it before.

And besides. Most animals are afraid of humans. Kaa only tried to eat Mowgli because he's just a child who can't protect himself.

He tried to eat him cause they’re a personal favourite treat of his. Again, Kaa continuously comments on their taste.Hell, whenShere Khaninterrogates Kaa later, he asks to inspect his middle and then gropes his coils to be sure. No doubt cause he’s doneit before and even seems notorious for it.

Yeah, he correctly assumed Mowgli wasn’t much of a threat. It took Kaa less than a minute to render him completely helpless!

Knowing he intends on eating Mowgli and he says that? Hm, it's possible he's had some before (at least in this jungle book version).

It’s possible some villager wandered into the jungle like Shanti and fell under his spell. That might be why he knows to start coiling immediately and he’s so quick to silence Mowgli when he starts calling for help- past experience?

He does seem to know exactly what to do and knows hypnosis works on man-cubs doesn't he?

Yeah, it doesn’t feel like his first try. He immediately gives Mowgli sleep commands and coils him like a pro, quickly wearing down someone who is particularly resistant to hypnosis. So yeah, he probably has had a human or two in his coils before, and he can’t wait to try again the moment he meets Mowgli.

He had to have known somehow so I agree with you. I like this specific screenshot a lot because of how close Kaa's face is to Mowgli's after laughing at his situation. He also looks like an evil smile.

Lol it’s great how he gets close to Mowgli, squeezing him tighter and joking about his helplessness when he can’t even hear the joke. He also seems to admire his catch at this moment- no wonder he’s giving an evil smile!

I actually like that lot about Kaa. Getting face-close to him and saying jokes while the hypnotized Mowgli just smiles away without even knowing what's going on. The evil face that Kaa is making goes very well with what he's doing and saying, wouldn't you agree?

Oh yeah, it does! He’s got Mowgli helpless in his coils and intends to eat him in a minute, which is very evil, especially with him mocking him about how he won’t be here in the morning directly to his silly blissful face. It’s funny how he enjoys playing with his victims after they become his captives when they have no idea what’s happening, like when he complains about Mowgli’s snoring and makes the poor kid apologize to him when he fully expects to eat him in a second.

We can see in both encounters that he enjoys playing with his food. The snoring part shows us how Kaa doesn't like being annoyed by his victims (or by interruptions) and wants everything to go exactly as he wants. Maybe he just wants to enjoy the moment more?
