Description I tried to create an oxymoron here in the title, but finding a title to this shot is much harder than I presumed because I have such strong feelings about this photo that are difficult to put into words..

I took this a while ago in Harrison Hot Springs, and came across it again and decided to submit it and see what sort of response I get. This photo is a type of photo I have been wanting to take for a very long time. My biggest goal is to photograph the contrast of nature and humanity, because personally I have a secret hate for how much we are smothering nature in our huge buildings, construction, highways, pollution and so on. It's pretty tough to describe my exact feelings about this sort of thing... perhaps hate is a strong word.. ah well

This was something different that I tried out.. I'm not sure how great the overall composition and such is.. I am counting on all of you, dearest fellow dA artisits to share your opinion!

and of course, in case I am unable to thank all of you who do, -- Thank you so much to everyone who favourites, comments and even views this photo!
I'll keep it up for a while and see what happens to it and decide what to do with it from there haha

--editted vibrance and contrast/exposure on picnik.com
~>one of these days I'll say I editted it on photoshop

Enjoy!

Well, let me tell you, the place you've taken this photo at, is not the worst where the nature is polluted by people. Really. But I like this idea of contrast. Also, enjoy the colours and combination of blue and yellow. Guess, it could be better if the colours were deeper and brighter.

Oh yes, I'm aware that there are places much worse-off from pollution than the area I photographed here, but that's the message I wanted to have within this shot, not that this specific, natural area is being industrialized, but other places too, any place, that people are taking over. I did not want this to focus on only this area, I wanted to speak for any area similar to this, that is being ruined one way or another.
I agree, the colours could be deeper and brighter, but with the limited equipment I have and the editting tools I have, that's the best I could do with this photo one day I'll by a better quality camera and photoshop instead of my 'lil digital camera and picnik.com

This photo also can be used as an example of the people attack against nature. And nature will leave it's position. Up to a certain time
Never heard of this site. Will use it when there's no Photoshop under my hand.

I'll tell you the first message I get from this photograph: "Mankind cannot outdo nature."
I absolutely love the way the buildings mimick the peaks of the mountains, but then you see how much smaller they are, how less majestic. It's just stunning.
Fantastic piece.

I hadn't really looked at this photo that way before! "Mankind cannot outdo nature." Looking at it in that perspective, it makes so much sense!
I love your opinion on this, I couldn't have worded it any better! Thank you so much

At first I did think this was a superimposed shot. And yet somehow they fit. If it had beed blocks of concrete that wud be total desecration. But somehow the mountains seem to approve, while still standing majestic with a veiled threat!
Well taken.

I really like the colors in this shot - I think you've succeeded in a wonderful comparison of nature vs man in this image and it's beautifully done. The sky and mountain together are so fresh looking - and in a way I love how your title describes it. The mountain is flawless in it's broken and jagged lines while, in contrast, the buildings have such clean, straight, conformed angles that while they are lovely in their own way, can't even cast a shadow next to the enormous beauty of the mountain. In all, I think you have achieved what you were trying to achieve with this shot.

I am sooo grateful that you have shared your opinion on this. It really made me feel confident in my motive with this shot and of course, I feel great that people are saying it's a good shot in general! You truly got it, with how you described my photo, you really understand what this photo says, and that's what I was hoping for.. that the message was clear!
Thank you so so so much!

You Are Very Welcome!!

I think it is wonderful how photos can capture moments and emotions that we cannot out into words. That way....we can let the photo do the talking and we do not have to tire our brings trying to say it.
