This is a WIP for something I've just started this morning. It's my vision of Edward and Bella and their love relationship. I've wanted to show her peaceful and so sure of her love, while he is always anguished. In my picture she's still human and she's asleep and dreaming, while he, who can never sleep,stares open-eyed, always troubled, his mind and heart always restless. But they are nevertheless irrevocably tied to each other, always having to touch each other and be close. I wanted to show this symbolically by drawing long thin red ribbons (like the ones used for the Eclipse book cover) twisting around their arms and wrists and bodies, and tying them as with bonds of love and blood.
I think I'm going to turn the drawing into a black/grey monochrome with a bit of white, except for the red ribbons.

Oh what a great idea! I love your thoughts about their love and about the symbolic meaning of your composition! And I like it that you want to show the peaceful side of their love, not only the passioned one which is shown in Breaking Dawn (and what is critised, that their love turn into a sexual). I love how they touches each other, itΒ΄s a popular composition, but you make it special. How EdwardΒ΄s right hand touches Bella is soooo tenderly. And I like how you worked on their faces, just in this stadium the faces are very detailed. Great work! I look forward to see the finished version. Well done, so far

Yes, I agree with you, the pose is quite a classic, but I've always loved it and there's a lot of possible variations
I've always been interested in the various symbols they used for the Twilight book covers, I think there's a lot of potential for drawings in them. I'm not sure it's such a peaceful image though, some people seem to think it is, I think it's a bit more ambiguous : Bella is calm and peaceful, but Edward is not, he's tormented about his choice... but still tehre is a lot of tenderness, and it's definitely not so sexual as in BD. I like to do very detailed faces from the first, because to be honest, if I fail the faces, there's no point in going on with the drawing... no one will want to look at it!!

But youΒ΄re right with the ambivalent impression, itΒ΄s a new way of seeing the picture^^ But do you think Edward looks afflicted? A bit, but mostly he looks thoughtful, so was my feeling...

Mmm I don't know about Edward. Maybe he looks only thoughtful after all. To me he looks anxious too, but maybe it's only my feeling.

As I was telling naleme just above, I've always wanted to do something with the symbols for the book covers, and I've had this idea for ages, only I couldn't visualize it yet. Then I found some old photoshoot of Rob where he's laying like that and it all clicked into place

I got the final idea this morning!! I've always wanted to do something with the symbols fo rthe book covers - the red/and or white ribbons, the chess pieces, the flowers and the apple. My reference for Bella is a moment in Tiwlight when she's visiting Eward's room, you can hardly see it in the movie but there's sites with tons of screencaps where you can find it. I hope you'll like the drawing!!! Im' very excited!!

I've just finished, I wanted so much to do something red/black/white! I've found a Korean artist on dA who works only with these colours or almost and I'm in love with his work. That's probably his influence!
