The POTENTIAL. Sibling moments. My god, I want so many fanfics of just Odin's children interacting. And the Avengers in the background just watching. Then Tony asks Thor, "Are you sure you're not the adopted one?"
BECAUSE LET'S FACE IT!!! Horns! Black Hair! Green-themed clothes! XD

(Though, on a realistic note, it is truly very hurtful for those who were adopted to find out accidentally later in life. Far better to tell them when they're very, very young.)

Yes! I was adopted also -- though in my case I was told very young and didn't have a problem with it. Sadly, I know people who found out relatively late in life and were deeply hurt by the years of deliberate deception. And in Loki's case, it's even worse, because he was raised to actively despise and fear his own race, which would only intensify the shock and hurt and soul-deep pain. *pets Loki*

Soul-bonded! *HUGS*
In my case, I was told so early that I don't really remember BEING told; I've just always known, and it's never bothered me. My brother did have some anxieties over it for a while, primarily because some of the kids at school used to torment him about it. (Jerks!) But, like you, I generally don't talk about it with my parents around, since my mother, especially, is a bit sensitive on the subject.
I like your mother's phrase: Bonded by heart. That's beautiful. And really, blood ties are so unimportant when it comes to love.
On the Marvel front, Odin and his favoritism aggravate me SO much, especially since Loki seems to have been little more to him than a means to a political end, and Odin clearly didn't care how much Loki was going to be hurt by the truth when it came out. I like to believe that Frigga truly did love Loki, but she still let her husband's terrible decisions stand....

Yes, that scene with Frigga and Loki in his cell is heartbreaking, indeed. It's a pity it wasn't Odin who got killed in that movie, rather than Frigga. Think of all the things that could have gone differently....
