Description
This was my most ambitious project yet. The comic took 3 days to complete and I spared no expense: colored line art, shading, backgrounds made 100% by me (I mean, I used references from the show Bluey but I recreated every element)... it was exhausting but it really stretched my art chops!

"After the Storm" is inspired by the Disney show Bluey and a popular fan theory involved with it. In an episode called "The Show", Bluey and Bingo put on a show for their mother Chili to celebrate Mother's Day. During one part of their act, Bingo put a balloon under her shirt, pretending to be her mother when she was pregnant, but the balloon popped. Chili's reaction to this, though, implies that maybe there was more to her experiences with pregnancy than her daughters know. And when Bandit, her husband, took her hand; that made it pretty clear to me that Bluey is, in fact, a rainbow baby.

Rainbow babies are children born after the mother first experienced a miscarriage. One of my brothers is a rainbow baby, actually.

So, in this comic, little baby Bluey is really struggling through a thunderstorm. But a bright glow soon opens her eyes and she finds a strange dog standing by her cot with a big smile on his face. She doesn't know him but he radiates kindness and love. He manages to make her laugh until her mother runs in to soothe her; stopping dead in her tracks when she, too, sees the stranger. He offers her a smile before happily fading away to allow her to comfort her baby. Chili then holds Bluey close to her, worried that her daughter's cries will never stop, but Bluey nuzzles into her warm fur and contently falls back asleep.

The original character featured in this, the baby Chili sadly lost, is named Storm. Because after the Storm... comes a rainbow.
