- Naive | Regretful | Anxious | Fussy | Hesitant

Kairi is a rather meek girl. Rather than taking the spotlight for herself, she tends to shy away to the sidelines, acting as a mere support to the others who truly do shine. This doesn't mean that she slacks off, though. In fact, she is a hard worker, refusing to back down until a job is done. She does what she's told, and she does her best to give the best output, despite rushing her movements to make sure it's over and done with quickly. Though she gives her all with every task she's assigned to, she tends to be anxious about anything, often pacing back and forth or twiddling her thumbs when she's feeling particularly restless, whether it's over something big, like before and after lives, or small, like pulls from gacha games. This isn't the only reason for her anxiety, though.

Kairi isn't exactly a people person, and because she's been a hikkikomori for a good portion of her life, she doesn't really know how to deal with people well, and she tends to believe things easily, having to have people tell her that something isn't real. It's gotten much more manageable after she attended high school, but she may stutter and trip over her own words every now and then when it comes to interacting with others. Kairi even gets worried for the wellbeing of others, worrying over every little thing that happens. She doesn't really want to get in anyone's business unless they're fine with it, but she will be checking on you if you really are okay. Her fussiness really shines through when you're a close friend, and she won't leave you alone until she's sure that there's nothing else to worry about.

Kairi tends to be regretful of her actions, dwelling on the actions that she could have done better. This includes opportunities that she could have taken, but didn't because she was hesitant on taking it. Eventually, she simply settles for "what's done is done." After she gets a hold on herself, she looks on the bright side of things, influenced by a good friend of hers back in high school. She always tries to look for a silver lining to things, no matter how bad the situation. The only times she'd feel utterly hopeless is when things are going wrong one after the other, but she would desperately try to find a way to get through it all. She forgives people rather easily, as long as they have their reasons, and she firmly believes in the golden rule. She isn't exactly the best at hiding her feelings, so she does her best to be honest and usually means what she says, cross her heart and hope to die. Kairi is often formal when addressing others, using a more polite way of speaking if she isn't all that acquainted with someone yet. She likes to avoid conflict as much as possible, and she'll definitely try to mediate a fight when one breaks out.

🎼 Biography:

Kairi was born and raised in a middle class family. Her parents were quite young when they first had her, having to marry after finding out her mother was pregnant. Regardless of the scuffles in the family that arose from her parents' actions, they still loved her. Eventually, the couple had two more children, and all five were a close-knit family.

As a child, Kairi was rather reserved, but she liked making friends when she had the chance. She was taught by her parents to be polite and kind to people no matter what, and to follow the golden rule. She was an awkward child, and she never knew how to reach out to the other children. It wasn't until a new transfer had come in was when she eventually became close to someone. It happened around her third year of elementary school It took a couple of months to get acquainted with the transfer— who'd been well-liked by the class by then. The two had gotten closer and closer, until the two were basically insperable. It wasn't until the other people in her class had called her selfish for keeping the transfer to herself where things had started going rough for her.

It was innocent teasing at first— talking how she clung so closely onto the transfer, telling her that she should probably go get better friends. Kairi was weak-willed, and she didn't know how to answer, so she simply endured it. Teasing eventually turned into flat-out insults, and people even began to push her around in the halls or in the classroom. She seemed to be the easiest target to pick on since she never had the courage to fight back. Even the transfer—who she'd considered her best friend—began to join the other kids to avoid being bullied. Months passed, and it had gotten to the point where she began coming home with scratches and bruises all over her arms and legs, and she was very vocal about her reluctance when she had to get up everyday for school. Her parents asked her what was going on, but she begged them not to tell the teachers, with the mindset that they might start picking on her even more if the school's staff finds out. Her parents, however, immediately went to the school after finding out what had happened to their daughter, and simply withdrew her from the school mid-semester.

They gave Kairi time to heal, around half a year, before bringing up her education once more, but she only reacted violently, locking herself up in her room for fear that people may come hurt her again, no matter what she did. It was a crippling fear she had to deal with, and at that point, she was even scared to go out of her own home. Her mother, a university teacher, decided to set a compromise. Kairi will be homeschooled, but she will have to go back to get a proper education once she hit high school. She was reluctant, but she agreed. While she was being homeschooled, she began to gain a variety of interests. They had an unused sewing machine, and using some old shirts that no longer fit her and a bunch of worn out pillows, she began looking up tutorials online, making plushies in her free time. Kairi also had to care for her two little siblings, so whenever her parents weren't home because of work, she often had to keep the house tidy and cook for her little siblings— which she enjoyed. She also began to live on the internet— seeing it as her bridge to the outside world. She managed to make her way around the net fairly quickly, easily picking up on different trends and mannerisms people exhibited online.

Eventually, she found out about idols online. Kairi was utterly enchanted with their stage costumes, and their songs. After clicking through the first view videos, she was completely hooked. She wasn't able to go to the groups' concerts live, but she was still a huge fan, catching livestreams and buying a few pieces of merch if her parents allowed her to to silently support them from the sidelines. She thought about singing herself after falling in love with music in general, and eventually made an account on Nico Nico, eventually becoming an utaite herself. It was a rough start, since she didn't know how to sing, or mix songs, but as the years progressed, she managed to gain a sizable following when she reached high school. She was still very reluctant to go outside, preferring to only interact with her parents and her little siblings, but when presented with her possible options on which high school to go to, one of the pamphlets stated that it was specialized for the Arts in Tokyo. Her parents had mentioned seeing her wholeheartedly enjoy singing, and they thought it would be a nice career path to take. Without hesitation, she chose to go to that school.

Kairi's high school life was surprisingly normal, despite her anxiety and shyness getting in the way. She made a couple of good friend, Shiori and Ui, while she was studying, despite both being a year level above hers. Ui being her roommate, and Shiori by complete coincidence. The school had mandatory monthly performances, and though her crippling stage fright had gotten to her several times, she eventually became more and more comfortable with herself on stage, pretending that there's a screen between her and her audience. Around the same time, she had a large following as an utaite, and she'd been receiving collab requests left and right. Things seemed to be going well, and once she graduated from high school, she had to move out, eventually getting her own apartment in Akihabara. The next few months consisted of her sending out countless of auditions, each of them never getting a callback. As time passed, she began to lose hope, more and more everyday. It didn't help that Ui— her best friend— had to leave for America, and Shiori was doing her own thing, and Kairi didn't want to bother her. At this point, she had given up on her dreams, eventually settling for a job at a well-known maid cafe. She was very well liked by customers for her gentle voice and demeanor.

She was thankful for the job opportunity. It certainly paid well, and the maids had to perform every month as well, so her skills didn't exactly all go to waste. Nonetheless, it was something she enjoyed doing, thinking that it's kind of like being an idol, just on a smaller scale. One day, she overheard a couple of customers talking about an up and starting idol company, and it caught her attention immediately. New idols? Sign her up. She looked up the company later on that day, 346 Production. Apparently, the debut live was going to happen in a few weeks. Her eyes lit up. Ui was coming back to Japan in those few weeks, and maybe she can ask Shiori to come, too! She managed to get her hands on a couple of tickets and basically dragged her two friends the debut concert. Needless to say, she was blown away. Though it was a small group, she could feel the hard work poured into every performance, and she could feel a massive amount of potential radiating off of each and every one of them. She felt a small twinge in the pits of her stomach, feeling a little envious of the idols up onstage. After the performance, she followed the company on whatever website they were on, glad to have found a new set of groups to fangirl over. She honestly thought her interactions with 346 would end at that.

One day, the cafe Kairi worked in decided to host a large-scale performance to celebrate the anniversary of the cafe. Kairi had initially planned to sit out on it, wanting to help other waitresses serve the customers as the others performed, but one of the waitresses called in sick that day, and they had think of a replacement act— fast. One of the waitresses pointed out that Kairi could sing instead, and although she hesitated, she simply sighed and went along with it. Her stage fright began getting to her, but as soon as she stepped on the stage, she wore her brightest smile and sung her heart out to the audience, making sure she poured all her emotions into every note. It was definitely well-received, people cheering her on when she bowed, despite wobbling offstage from her nervousness.

After the show ended, and patrons were filtering out of the cafe, she was approached by a talent scout. He handed her a business card with the logo of the company that just started up— the very same company that had the debut live a couple weeks before hand. The scout was impressed with her performance, and was hoping to have her join their ranks. Kairi blubbered that she couldn't possibly become an idol, trying to make up excuses, but he simply smiled and told her that it was alright if she didn't accept his request, but she should definitely consider it.

A few days passed, and she found her eyes wandering to the card the scout had given her. Kairi was so sure that she should have given up, but a small voice at the back of her head basically yelled at her to take the opportunity before it gets lost again. Determined, yet hesitant, she takes a deep breath and pulls out her phone. Kairi inputted the number into the keypad and waited for a response.

"H-Hello? This is Kairi Haruno. A-ah, yes, I was scouted."

". . . I'd like to take up your offer."

🎼 Extra:

• She still has hints of stage fright, and people often have to snap her out of it before a live.

• Charm Point: Her soft voice

• Kairi enjoys making paper stars and writing down wishes towards people she cares about, normally wishing them happiness, or good luck and the like. She keeps them in bottles scattered around her room.

• Her utaite name is a pun on the word "harusaki" (spring rain), but has "usagi", the word for rabbit.

• She's on relatively good terms with her neighbor. She finds the strange instrument her neighbor carries around cute.

• She's physically inept. Even if she's trained for a while, she still has a hard time doing well in sports or exercise.

• She tends to flinch when someone touches her.

• Kairi owns a pet bunny named Yuki.

• Her best girl in Love Live is Hanayo Koizumi. She once cried when she spent 700 gems but still didn't get a UR.

• Apologizes way too much.

• She learned how to play guitar because an upperclassman inspired her to do so.

• Kairi doesn't mention that she plays otome games. She's too embarrassed to say it out loud.

• Has taken self-defense classes. She can take you down if she needs to, and if she doesn't shrink or run away.

• Her siblings are Kei and Mai Haruno.
