Biography

  Akemi was born and raised in Kyoto to a young couple. As a single child, she was brought up with all their attention on her, almost to the point where it was suffocating. She didn’t particularly care, however, as she only wanted to make them proud. Her life revolved around her parent’s happiness; oftentimes she would push away her own wants to try and please them. She took up piano, dancing, anything that her parents wanted her to do. When the two began arguing and yelling at one another, she simply pushed herself harder to keep them happy. After all, she was their everything. She had a job to do.
    Her parents finally decided to split, and Akemi was caught in the middle of a particularly nasty divorce. Her home life fell into turmoil and with her unable to deal with the stress, she slowly began to shut everyone out. She pushed away her parents and friends, too scared and anxious to allow them to get close. Her school life gradually fell to pieces as well; she neglected her homework and extracurriculars, eventually skipping school altogether and dropping any extra classes she had. With her relationship with her parents deteriorating and classmates questioning her whereabouts, Akemi's anxieties consumed her, causing her to avoid any possible interactions with people. After a particularly nasty argument with her mom however, she left the house to try and get away. She walked aimlessly for a while, frightened of being out and about but unwilling to return back home, before she came across a new idol group that was promoting themselves. By chance, one of the members addressed her and thanked her for watching. The girl’s words were so heartfelt that Akemi couldn’t help but smile back at her. Seeing how hard the girl was working somehow alleviated some of her fears and worries. If that girl, even when she was clearly fatigued and freezing, could work so hard and put on such a genuine smile, what excuse did she have?
    She began closely following the girl’s group - her days became a little brighter and she felt that even the most difficult things in life were a little more manageable. Having something to encourage her gave her the strength to push past her anxieties. Starting her life back up was unbearably difficult at times, but she never gave up. Remembering that girl let her continue on, one day at a time. She even started up dance classes again after noticing how much her idol seemed to enjoy it. With a shaky truce in place between her and her parents, she was in a much better place than before. Not everything was perfect, but she had made progress. Yet there was still a looming fear that had wrapped itself around her. Her high school days were rapidly drawing to an end yet Akemi didn't have the slightest inkling of what she wanted to do with her future. Her last year had been... mediocre at best, and she doubted anyone truly wanted an anxious mess in their school or workplace. As she fretted over this while walking home from school, she came across a flier for 346. She stared at it and felt her heart rate pick up. The idea was exhilarating - being able to touch others the way her idol had touched her… and maybe even being noticed by her… She couldn't get it out of her head. As soon as she reached her house she pulled up the contact information for the company and made her choice. Just for once, she wanted to do something brash, something that could be life-changing, something that she wanted to do. The opportunity was almost too good to pass up. After landing an audition and attempting her best, she forced herself to push past her worries and continue on with her days. Here was to hoping...
