Harue, without a doubt, is a result of her upbringing. She exudes confidence with her every move thanks to years of being told, and knowing, her worth. Somehow, it seems as if she has a reason behind her every action, as if her every move is planned out. And that may very well be true; Harue is exceptionally perceptive and her ability to judge others’ character and intentions are well beyond her years. Very little gets past her, and she always reacts accordingly based on what she sees. When she acts, she speaks with certainty and always chooses her words carefully. She carries herself with composure and dignity, and her presence in a room demands attention as a result; at times, she seems not dissimilar to royalty. Harue is also quite independent in regards to most aspects of her life. She’s a capable worker and attends to her responsibilities in a timely, unprompted manner. When there is a task she needs to take care of, she will get to it. However, despite her cool and unbothered image, Harue has a rather playful side. She enjoys making witty conversation with others and enjoys seeing their reactions to different situations. This part of her causes her to actively seek out intriguing individuals to interact with; it can be pretty interesting to talk to her, so long as she considers you someone interesting as well.
Harue has quite a bit of pride - not in her social status, however. She’s prideful when it comes to her work and capabilities, and she does not shy away from acknowledging her talents. She understands where her weaknesses lie and knows when to take a step back, but when she knows she is able to take control of a situation, she will. She’s quite practical in that sense; she acts quickly and strives for efficiency. Wasting time is one of her biggest pet peeves, so she will happily jump from one idea to another if it means the issue at hand will be addressed in a more timely manner. Harue is also quite the socialite as a result of her parents’ efforts. She’s well-traveled, well-read, and well-practiced in many of the more ‘elegant’ art forms, and her entire being reeks of sophistication. She is, more or less, the perfect Renaissance lady, and it’s easy to garner that from the way she carries herself.
And all of that is pretty much one big facade. Harue, quite frankly, has very little patience for the average person. Predictable or ordinary reactions and responses irritate her, and though she won’t lash out in frustration, she can quickly become distant. She isn’t above using her perceptiveness to manipulate a situation into her favor either. Her actions and words are calculated in order to get certain reactions out of people; she, rather selfishly, seeks out the more interesting things in life, unconcerned with how her actions may affect others. She’s not one to share either. She’s fairly territorial over the things she likes and it can be… dangerous to push or annoy her to do otherwise. It’s near impossible to convince her to do something she doesn’t want to do, either way. She’s stubborn to the point of ridiculousness, especially when it comes to forgiving other people. When she has been wronged, she will hold a grudge until the end of time. She oftentimes becomes unwilling to look past her grudges, making it difficult for her to develop good relationships with other people who haven’t directly wronged her. She wants to live life on her own terms, and has very little love for the things that prevent her from doing so.

❀ BIOGRAPHY ❀
If influence and wealth had a name, it would be Sako. Born to a family that could only be described as modern-day aristocrats, Harue had everything in the world at her fingertips. Any resources she needed to succeed, she had. So it was no surprise that, even before she could speak, she was expected to achieve great things. Her father was the founder of one of the largest tech companies in Japan, which was set to become one of the largest in the world. Her mother was a former actress and well-known socialite amongst the upper-class. Both of them had been born into influential, wealthy families. Neither of them knew how to be genuine anymore, though.
From a very young age, Harue had watched her parents shower others with insincere, sickeningly sweet words. They taught her the importance of keeping up appearances, but through their actions, they had also taught her how to deceive. Her older brother experienced the same lessons and as the two of them grew up, the art of manipulation became second nature to them. It was easy for them to use people as a means to an end, and neither of them ever felt much regret when they deemed it necessary to sever friendships. Harue never questioned her situation - after all, people treated her the same way as she treated them. She had found that people oftentimes only approached her due to her family name, not out of the kindness of their hearts. If others decided they only wanted a fake friendship with her, she had no qualms about returning the favor.
Yet… it certainly got lonely, at times. She had spent her time during elementary school involved in extracurriculars to prepare her to become an impressive socialite, and she had spent her time in junior high acting the part of that impressive socialite. Rich kids didn’t get to make friends - that was quite apparent to her. She found solace in her brother’s company, however, and despite there being five years between them, the two of them were inseparable companions. Harue felt as if her brother was the only person in the world she could truly trust; her parents were… absent, at best (and neglectful, at worst), and her classmates were disingenuous about their intentions. Her brother, however, understood her struggles perfectly, and she understood his.
[LOCKED BEGIN]
Harue’s brother grew up quickly, though, and she was left at a loss. Some time after he entered his second year of high school, he underwent a drastic change in character. He became more laid back, less concerned with his appearance. Essentially, he had become an incredibly normal teenage boy. Harue was baffled. He explained to her that he had become friends with delinquent-like characters at his school and began to yearn for the same freedom that his friends lived their lives with. The person he had become wasn’t who he wanted to be, and so, he had decided to live his life without care or restrictions. That got Harue thinking. She had never considered the possibility of living under her own will rather than her parents, but the idea was… strangely appealing. She had always attached a negative connotation with the word “delinquent”, but after that fateful conversation, that connotation slowly began to shift.
Her brother kept up his appearances around their family, but Harue knew better. He was skipping classes, pursuing his interests, and neglecting his school work in the process. It was incredible. Harue was mesmerized. She could never follow his lead given her circumstances (her parents kept a much closer and stricter watch on her, after all) but she was content with watching her brother and living vicariously through his escapades. Throughout junior high, she rebelled in her own ways. She took up the nickname Alex, which had been gifted to her by a foreign girl who was unable to pronounce Harue, and vehemently rejected her given name. The name Alex was rough around the edges, was androgenous in its nature, and was everything she wanted to be. It wasn’t elegant and it didn’t suggest that she would exert any type of grace the way “Harue” did. It was, quite frankly, perfect. From there on out, each time she introduced herself, it was with the name “Alex”.
All people had to change with their circumstances, though. Alex’s brother was no different. As he reached his final year of high school, he was hit with the reality of his situation. His parents were willing and able to drop any amount of money to get him into the top universities in the country, and he wouldn’t have to raise a finger. He hated the very thought of that. So he dropped the delinquent act and began pouring himself back into his studies, determined to reach success on his own terms. Alex watched her brother slowly revert back to the closed-off teenager he once was and became furious with him. In a way, she felt as if he had betrayed her trust in him. The two of them had spent countless hours discussing their distaste for the disingenuous nonsense they were constantly surrounded by, yet her brother had willingly gone back to a state of insincerity and unhappiness. It made no sense to her. She drew away from him and their once close relationship was left in a state of uncertainty. Though he made many attempts to clear up the situation, Alex was unwilling to listen to him, convinced that she could no longer trust him the way she once did. After he was accepted into an admirable university and left, Alex found herself quite alone in the world as she held onto the hope that she could one day smile in the same carefree manner her brother was once able to.
[LOCKED END]
Junior high wouldn’t last forever, though, and Alex found herself faced with the decision of which high school to attend. Not really. Her parents had given her a list of the most prestigious high schools in the country to attend and had told her that she could only pick a school from that list. Not that she particularly cared - she was completely content with simply closing her eyes and blindly choosing a school. She did, however, take the time to look up all of the schools on the list, and though they all looked more or less the same (rich, fancy, etc.), a certain school called Okiru Senshin Gakuen seemed a little more bearable than the rest. The fact that it offered such generous scholarships to the less wealthy piqued her interest. If she chose to go to this school, she would have the opportunity to interact with people from different walks of life than her. Maybe she would meet someone interesting - someone who would change her life. Probably not, though.
High school, start.
