Description As the war between the Rulons and the Valorians continue, more and more varieties of prehistoric animals become caught up in the conflict. Upon seeing a Therizinosaurus for the first time, the Rulons were struck by the close combat potential of these bizarre theropods. The powerful forelimbs and meter long claws of Therizinosaurus have been enhanced with bionics, resulting in power claws that are able to shear through the thickest bones. Some individuals have even been seen with chainsaw attachments to inflict additional damage. To compensate for this extra weight up forward, the tip of the tail has been fitted with a spiked, weighted club to provide a counter balance, as well as an extra close combat weapon. Stability in combat is enhanced by augmented feet. The large steel claws are able to dig into and find purchase in the ground, while the shock absorbing heel helps keep the dinosaur upright. The cockpit has room for one Rulon pilot, and is fitted with a mid-strength laser. A satellite/radar dish mounted on top of the cockpit enables the Therizinosaurus to relay orders to other troops on the battlefield when not in combat.

An very interesting recon unit.

Thanks.
Therizinosaurs were bizarre, herbivorous theropods. [link]
They had claws that could be up to a meter long. This made me think, what if those claws were enhanced/replaced with a power claw/chainsaw attachment? They were also slowish animals, which made the close combat/recon (With satellite/dish) more plausible than something that would rush in to battle quickly.

Hm If they are slow then they could be massed in numbers and cheaply produced. (To compensate for them er..not making it all back home if you know what I mean.)

True. Have a 'behind the scenes' breeding program to replace any casualties.

Or cloning. They are not expected to last long so they are cannon fodder.

Thanks.
I can see those power claws causing massive damage in close combat.

Those power claws would certainly inflict massive damage in close quarters, any idea as to a counter-response from the Valorians?

Probably something armored to protect against the claws while battling in close combat. Perhaps an ankylosaur or a ceratopsian of some sort. Or maybe a Deinocheirus [link]

An ankylosaur or ceratopsian would certainly be good counter-measures being that they are naturally very resilient dinosaurs, and coupled with some armor enhancements from the Valorians, they'd be perfect at fending off these sorts of threats.
