Misty was born to two kittypets, River and Moony, in a litter in a twoleg nest. After being weaned, she and her litter-mates were set up to be given away to other twolegs. However, her mother River decided to give her to an old friend named Fangs in the wilds to be raised for the life of a wild cat.

Loner:
It was a decent life, though somewhat frightening when considering how big the world seemed to be outside of a twoleg nest. She constantly got worried about other cats aside form Fangs, especially with how Fangs explained how most usually were... That was until one day, he discovered about a group of cats called 'Shadeclan' and how they could possibly offer more safety than just him looking out for her.

Clan life: Kit
Fangs, later dubbed Tigerfrost, brought her with him to Shadeclan, where she was dubbed Mistkit for about a moon and a half before becoming a suitable age to be an apprentice. Tigerfrost, for reasons she herself doesn't entirely understand but goes along with, claimed to the clan that she was his daughter through blood.

Mistpaw becomes a bit unsure are how capable of a warrior she can be...

At the gathering, Shellpaw's furious rabies kicked in, and he attacked. By the time he was taken down, Sungaze appeared and also attacked and was killed. Looncrash, Salamanderstalk, Decayheart, and Streamstripe were thought to be potentially infected, so they were euthanized. Mistpaw was later explained what the whole event meant, though she became confused even more.
