Description UPDATE: I got a new phone, that doubles as a far better camera than the one I used before. So I was able to upload a better quality version of this.

This colleague contains odes to the "Muppets," "Sesame Street," and a little-known children's show called "Eureeka's Castle" (not by Jim Henson, but inspired by his work).

"Eureeka's Castle" was a show from the '90s, cast with Muppet-like puppets and aimed at *very* young kids, like "Sesame Street."

My childhood memories are vague on this show, but I know I adored it, and took it hard when it was cancled. Upon rematching clips as an adult, I find that the Castle has an interesting hierarchy. The "castle" is in fact a giant music box, wound up by a jolly giant at the start of each episode. Inside the castle live several creatures. Eureeka, a child sorceress in training, acts as the ruler/baby-sitter. Her subjects/students/mental patients include a nerdy, cranky bat; a dragon who believes his tail and blanket designs have minds of their own; two moat monsters who make were Fred and George before there *was* a Fred and George; some mischevious castle mice (because the Muppets had a copyright on rats, maybe), and a foreign pleader. Then several of *those* characters has their own pets (the bat has a pet spider, the dragon has some racing worms and a yellow...thing, etc.) Very feudal, in retrospect.

And...ah yes! The Stonefish (their canon name, apparently): three fish statues who act as a chorus group for musical numbers, and occasionally a fountain. As a child, I probably dozed while they sang "Twinkle Twinkle Little Star," but at age 25, I was mesmerized, and they have now surpassed Magellan as my favorite characters.

Other than "Eureeka's Castle," this picture pays tribute to "Pigs in Space;" "A Muppet Christmas Carol;" the one "Sesame Street" character I never grew out of; Constantine (or "Evlyn Froggen"); and a brief scene from the first "Muppet Movie," where Piggy imagines herself and Kermit in various romantic-movie situations, including one film noir shot by a lamp post.

I do not own "The Muppets," "Eureeka's Castle," or "Sesame Street."

I remember "Eureeka's Castle."  The hole in the dragon's tooth always freaked me out a little bit--I have teeth-falling-out nightmares, so any suggestion of a bad tooth throws me into conniptions, haha!

Poor put-upon Gonzo!  He's always been one of my favorites.

I used to have eyeball-falling-out nightmares.

Anyway, glad to know I'm not the only one who remembered Eureeka's Castle!

Eek!  Eyeballs?  That's infinitely worse!  My fiance's uncle once sneezed and blew one of his eyeballs out of its socket.  He said it was the strangest thing, and made him a little seasick, to be looking at the dinner table and at the floor at the same time.  The doctor was able to put it back in, no problem.  Apparently that sort of thing is commoner than one might think.  Yuck!

That's a funny story! I assume as a kid your fiance believed his uncle? XDDD

As far as any of us know, it's a true story.  Of course, this is a family where someone also sneezed and blew a tooth across the table (disgusting!)  If it's a story they told the kids, the adults seem to believe it, too.

So he really did sneeze part of his eye out? I'm gonna have to google that one...

I looked it up but didn't find much.  Makes me wonder, though...maybe it IS all a big inside joke involving a bunch of people.  I wouldn't put it past them, LOL!  My hubby's side of the family are big pranksters.

All my accounts keep getting banned. Can you talk to the staff for me using the help box. I would use a useful ally to have being that I killed Maerorem-Caligo earlier and can kill anyone.

I just realized how awful the quality of this Muppet picture is. God I need to get my scanner fixed and FAST.
