My dad's alltime favorite actor. Dad's obsession with Bogart helped introduce me to old movies and launch me in to my own obsession with film noir and Peter Lorre. But Bogart himself was a smashing fellow and a fun character actor. He was the Harrison Ford of his day, usually playing a snarking antihero who loved booze. When he wasn't running a saloon in "Casablanca" he was a hardboiled detective, a gangster, or an alcoholic adventurer.

"Indiana Jones" fans should get familiar with Bogart, because the series was heavily influenced by old Bogart movies. Indy's iconic outfit is based almost directly on the costume Bogie wore in "The Treasure of Sierra Madre." "Raiders of the Lost Ark" also takes a lot of visual influence from "Casablanca" (from the tropical city to Marion's outfit). "Beat the Devil" and "THe African Queen" also seem to be influences.
