Description This took me four and a half hours to do, entirely in photoshop. This is a detail picture of General Grievous from the upcoming Star Wars Episode III: Revenge of The Sith.

He is the supreme commander of the Seperatist Armed Forces, trained in lightsaber combat, even though he can't use the force. His homeplanet, Kalee, was devastated in a war in which their enemies, the Huks, called upon the Jedi for support. The Republic imposed sanctions on Kalee, which was relatively rescource poor compared to the Huks, which Grievous still thinks is the reason for the Republic's reason for intervention. His planet received a rather dubious salvation from the Intergalactic Banking Clan, which supplied Kalee with food and other resources, as long as Grievous helped ...persuade those who where late on payment for large loans. Darth Tyranus began to take interest in Grievous' military career, but considered Grievous' sense of honor to be a major character flaw. Tyranus had Grievous' shuttle sabotaged, and used this as an excuse to convince Grievous to join the Sepratists, and to rebuilt him with a body made for killing Jedi. But unbeknownst to Grievous, his only condition to the deal (that his mind be left intact) was not honored. He can no longer truly feel any emoptions except for hatered. He no longer has his strong sense of honor, leaving him as just a ruthless killer, slaughtering entire worlds.

Even though the movie hasn't even hit the theatres yet, Grievous has already taken a place as one of my favorite characters in Star Wars. From the info I've been able to gather, he's a character who really enjoys being an cruel, ruthless bastard. I *love* characters like that ^^

Check out the Star Wars official site for some pictures and a bio for Grievous. Also, with the new site layout, you can refresh a couple times to find a really good pic of him in the background.

EDIT: It's small, but just because I'm feeling a bit more vindictive twoards the Jedi than normal, I added a reflection of Kenobi in Grievous' eye, with a kind of "Oh, shit..." look on his face. It just fit so well...

EDIT 2: MAJOR EDIT. This is just the first, really. I haven't finished touching it up, but this complete overhaul was courtesy a new TV spot that I downloaded, which shows a really good closeup of Grievous' eyes. I completely replaced the skin, recolored the armour in the corner, and added in the sclera, and tweaked the iris color and pattern.

EDIT 3: Fixed the color on the eye... I looked at the refrence shot again and I had it too dark...

God, thinking about the General, why should I NOT look behind me!?!? Or is this some sort of a trick? Perhaps you don't WANT me to look. Perhaps you want to keep him for your self. You bitch!XD

Thank you! >>;; I'd rather point to a work in progress I have in Scraps for a better Grievous eye, though- this one was rather crudely made. Thank you so much, though! *blush*

A very neat idea. I'm still learning how to use Photoshop. I like this. I read your comments and I was surprised. Dooku was the one who caused Sheelal's ship to crash? I thought that was just an accident! Poor Grievous!

lk666 In reply to ryfvs [2006-07-17 01:48:27 +0000 UTC]

Thanks very much! Photoshop can be a challenge to learn how to use, but it's a wonderful thing to work with once you get the hang of it (which I still am)... And regarding Dooku's involvement in the shuttle crash, the most accurate source for background information about that incident and some other parts of Grievous' past is Labrynth of Evil- it was the first book to really feature him, and it gives both his point of view, and Dooku's thoughts on the cyborg... and some Jedi killing action, too ^^

O. M. G.

That is freakin' awesome sweet! I love the color, the detail, everything!!

*attempts to calm n00bness* This is a truly great picture. It looks very reallistic, somewhat surreal, and Obi-Wan's reflection is excellently rendered. There's almost this sense that when you are looking at it, that Grievous is looking back...

Man... *whistles* I'd give the world to make something like that.

Thank you so much! I sporadically update, and it's often edits on this one. I have a gigantic render of a head shot of Grievous sitting in my scraps that I haven't updated for ever, though @_< I've been doing origami and wasting time on City of Villains for the past while, but I should be getting some updates soon, especially after I watch all six Star Wars movies this weekend (geekfest!). I might be doing some stormtrooper stuff, because I've really fallen for TK-622, the main character from Empire #13 comic's 'What Sin Loyalty'. Stay tuned!

I have another PS of Grievous in my scraps that I haven't worked on in a while, but it's a lot more detailed (It's 1920 x 1200 pixels, every section done at 200% magnification)... I've recently been jolted into action on just about all artistic fronts, so I might just update it soon! *hope springs eternal* ^^

I'm going to be spending a month at a science and engineering camp at Smith College, which apparently has high speed internet in all the dorm rooms, so... ^^

But yes, if I wasn't going to Smith, I'd be sitting outside the WiFi access points in the town...

Will do! I'm just running Norton right now, which slows down the computer a lot, and when your internet connection is 24 kps (damn the cable company for not providing service here!) you can very easily bottom out when running Norton. I'll get at least the first batch sent tonight!
