Dooohhh... the real title is supposed to be "The Seven Hundred And Seventy Seven Beans Sheep" but DArt just don't allow it for more couple words for the title.

Nevermind..

Anyway, it's my personal artwork, although I contribute this for fantastic art assignment few days ago. I'm sure it's fine for the lecturer. Of course..!

And let's go to the story and concept.

Story first..

The Seven Hundred And Seventy Seven Beans Sheep

This is a story of a tenacious shepherd dog, a border collie, who wondering around into the peaceful forbidden forest near his field. The dog is in search of a lost sheep, with the trust of his own instinct and sense of a canine, the dog thought that it would be easy to find the lost sheep, until he found a place that will change his way of life forever.

As soon as the dog realized that he's actually following the track deeper into the forbidden forest. He began to see a beautiful place made by Mother Nature, filled with stones and rocks with magical markings all over it.

Without any doubt the dog keep on his duty as a shepherd dog, to find the lost sheep. When suddenly... he heard the lost sheep's bell ringing. He faster his steps and found the sheep entangled by a moving branch. Below it, there is a giant rock with the shape of canine. The dog did not realize for a while and trying to reach the entangled sheep, but it's just too high distance.

The tenacious border collie start to anxious for that he can't do anything to save the entangled sheep... but Mother Nature who see everything, can feel the dog's constraint. So She call the ancient Earth Spirit to help the dog.

The Earth Spirit grants the dog an ability to do what human can do, and give him a simple trial yet tough for a dog, to collect seven hundred and seventy seven beans in exchange for the entangled sheep. The dog agreed and without any doubt he began to collect the bean one by one.

A day passed and the task is successfully done, tired, yes. But with strong faith of a canine, loyalty to masters, and fidelity as a shepherd dog. He finally lead the sheep home, safety...

Whew... a fantastic short story.
Now.. the boring part, concept! Not important, but for me it's a must.

The main concept is to critic bad humans who keep devastating Nature in this present time, we all know that with high technology like now we human more susceptible to do things that's not supposed to be done too much. And don't you realize that the victim will always the Nature itself?

I made an analogy to the value of ancient time, in this artwork, The Forbidden Forest. To remind us that nobody can control Nature, long time ago people still fear to Nature, they don't arbitrary cut down big trees like now, they know if one ever dare to do it, it will bring disaster to their live (e:g: flood, erosion, and long dry season).

Next, gathering the Seven Hundred And Seventy Seven Beans, to assert that Nature grow slowly, instant is impossible for Nature, and the point is to remind us of progression of a good live, for each of individual being that live in Earth. And if we do like Nature do, I guess it is called a true good life.

Colossal Earth Spirit, with markings. It means that back in the past where people still believe in myth or folklore in some cultures where there is a lot of unknown essences of Nature, exist. Ruling civilization in a good path for centuries. The Colossal Earth Spirit thing is just my representation for it. But who knows if somewhat they are indeed exist? Haha.. hey, they exist within our imagination and fantasies, close enough.

Almost forgot, the sheep! The sheep has a meaning of something important in our live, we do has something to fighting for, don't we? In exchange for it we don't have to devastating Nature so bad........

Done in A2 Size Fine Art paper with watercolor and colored pencil, a day progression, and a lot of fun. ^___^

And I'm going to make a presentation for it in front of the class tomorrow, hope everything will be fine.
