Description
as the title suggests, i was getting a little bored with standard portrait drawing, so i did a bit of an eye study to re-enthuse myself.
took a reasonably quick 40 mins-ish. i wanted to keep the time period short. so may be lacking a few finer details.
and its just under A4ish in size
i must say it served its purpose, i shall be starting my commissioned drawing tomorrow.
oh and its done entirely with a 6b pencil, somehow i still managed to keep it fairly light :S
i'll be pretty impressed if you can guess who it is.

i was afraid there was too little detail, as i did it with just a 6b pencil which is major soft so quite hard to do detail.

amazing! i dont know how you do it lol i love your drawings! so you said " I did a bit of an eye study to re-enthuse myself." so do you look at different pictures of eyes to watch the way light hits it? or am i a bit off? anywho i love your pictures and you have beyond amazing talent.

and yes, an eye study should be basically paying closer attention to the eye, maybe looking at a few, and drawing a few too. however i made a slight shortcut and just drew a close-up of an eye from a single reference picture, it still helps to understand how an eye works or should be drawn.

i would totally watch i love how you do your eyes and hair when you are drawing people. i have looked at pictures of eyes but i still have alot of work to do well alot that i can improve on.

maybe you could try finding a larger eye ref and drawing a close-up, kinda like i did. i really think it helps.
and i might do the live drawing thing this weekend, hopefully then more people will be able to see. thats if i can get my webcam working. :S

i just used a 6b pencil and tissue paper for blending, it came out surprisingly light and soft, i was quite pleased by that.
