Yep, freakin' bad-ass work on the chains, the flame and lightning effects are also awesome but nothing competes with the chains for awesomeness in the finished piece. Very nice!

The chains are really good. They actually just blow me away.

Godly work on the chains. Shading is superb, there's so much depth. The hair is incredibly awesome as well with the translucent effect.

Wow, no one's ever said my artwork was godly before, thank you so much. ^///^

Actually if you managed to make it a more realistic piece that could be incredibly awesome! I really like the idea of what this could look like in a more realistic style, and love the age you've added around the eyes since him being old just adds a lot to the piece.
An old-guy breaking out of his chains is emotionally more powerful to me than a young person who maybe didn't even have the chains on that long.
Otherwise I hope at some point the blackground is traded out for something that lets the chains pop a little more, since they're way too awesome to remain this hard to see in the final piece.

Yeah, it's REALLY work in progress-status right now--but thanks very much for the feedback, I'll play with various backgrounds. I actually am going to use a lighter background, the black was just there to help me see something I was working on.

So is he going to be older? 'Cause taking some elasticity out of his skin so it droops some more would in my opinion be pretty cool there.

Nah, not really. His eyes will look haggard, but he's a titan so he has eternal life and youth and I like this aesthetic better. Just a personal choice.

Very impressive work with the chains. So basically they're a really mean energy drink?
Be a pain trying to animate a guy with so much chain though.

Yeah, it's kind of a shame. The wings metaphor is a great one, but especially with the advent of use in certain advertising campaigns it's been overused to the point that it's really hard to get much out of it.
Sort of like "It was a dark and stormy night" would've just been a bad-ass opening line the first time it was used.
Hope you post the finished piece when you have it though, it's a nice composition.

I think the juxtaposition should be enough to carry this one. That's the intent, anyway, because putting a twist on sterotypes can be a good way to make them remain effective.
