For the hair more or less I follow this tutorial [link] Of course it's also little bit different as Michael's hair is a lot darker, so for the second or thirdtep I use very soft pencil.

As for teeth I draw just very light and tiny lines, nearly touching the paper. Then drawing very light shadows and more shadows where teeth is going inside into cheek

It's the scanner that makes the lines to be so visible The real life portrait is much more smoother. I don't know if it's scanner's fault or I just can't scan normally I have this problem with all my drawings when I scan them

well that's the problem that every one has with the scans..
a lot of people change it... in photoshop or put more contrast to make it more real..
but I understand.. I mean I make a draw and I like it.. but when I scan it.. oh god that comes a crap.. xddd

somehow they change the way I can't change, or don't know how. I mean I know PS but I have no idea how to make it smoother other than blur. But then in makes all of it blur. What resolution you use to scan? And what do you do to make it better in PS?

my scan is one of the cheapest of the market xDDD
I know Defently what u're talking about.. I haD the same problems with my works.
but when u pass the scan shot to the pC, u open the image anD there's a few options in the top (or bottom or in the borDers) of the winDow.
I guess yours has as well, u click in the option eDit (or something like that) anD change the lights anD the contrast to make it more smooth

I tried that before. But the problem is if I make the contrast and make it darker then it also makes the pencil lines to be darker (much less smooth) so it looks worse then.

I understand u I have the same problems..
maybe if I suggest the program that I use to edit the scan shots it will help
I use Gimp 2.6 but everyone elses programs make the same effect so if u have photoshop or photoshopscape or whatever.. try that ones

Yes, I already use Photoshop but as I said, I have no idea how to take those sharp lines away. I will see around, maybe there's some good tutorials for that
