It's actually more funny when Matt doesn't say that he'll kill to have the plushie. It's great the way it is now, because Matt's being all polite: "Can I have that Mello plushie?" but Near responds immediately by being a hostile bitch: "Fuck no." xD Near's overprotectiveness is funny, I guess...
