HOLY CRAP THIS IS EXACTLY THE JAMIE IN MY HEAD! It would be so cool if you did another sketch of him in his Highlander clothing.

Leather... coat? Its the mid 1700s! Aside from that its perfect. I kind of wish guys like Jamie existed, yet, that is why its fiction Time travel, as we all know, doesnt factor into the non realness

Absolutely the Jamie I imagine! I've never seen any other drawing or photo come so close. You're great!
What about drawing him in an older version, too?

That's ok-no offense taken! I did this a number of years ago when I first read the books. If I were to draw him again now, I might draw him differently.

I think it's just that most people ahve their own image of what they think he is. The beauty of imagination..

But just out of curiousity, didn't you have a different version of this or did I just dream it up?
Great job!

I like it... Well drawn!
Though in honesty I think he should be wearing a sark & plaid rather than a modern jacket - context is important!

This guy could also be the lead in my current book, funny how our favourite characters from other people's work and our own creations tend towards each other...

I'm wondering why he is wearing modern-day clothing.... Don't bother responding if it's a spoiler; I'm only on the third book!

The drawing is easily worthy of the books!

Well, I'm not terribly good with coming up with period clothing and I thought since the model was wearing a leather jacket that it wouldn't look too out of place. I still haven't finished The Fiery Cross and I hear there's a new one out or coming out. If I ever get any free time again, I'll have to re-read the series.
P.S. Thanks so much for the fav!

Man, all I have to say is wow!
This is an amazing piece of artwork, though sadly, I can't say I know anything at all about him. But regardless, I love the way you can take a fictional character and breathe life into them.
Actually, something I find rather amusing is when I saw the thumbnail for this, I thought it was a pic of Bill Weasley being as it greatly favors the older piece of work you did of him (or at least to me, it does).
Anyway, a lovely piece! ^_^
I would have more to say, but it's rather late and *sigh* my brain sadly doesn't want to function.

LMRourke In reply to Darache- [2005-06-08 22:22:11 +0000 UTC]

Thank You so Much! Actually, he really could pass for Bill Weasley. He has the ponytail and the red hair in "real life" just like Bill too. I was debating on posting him as Bill (or a newer version I should say) but someone mentioned the "Outlander" series and Jamie Fraser and I just had to post him as himself

If you definitely have the time (the books are quite lengthy), I heartily recommend the series. It's by Diana Gabaldon.

You're welcome! Man, now that you told me he's also a redhead, I need to search out the "Outlander" series and learn more about this wonderful Jamie Fraser. And he could definitely be Bill's twin, which is an absolutely wonderful thing, if I do say so myself! ^_^

I wish I knew who this character is! You gave him such a striking and beautiful face. He looks like a very rugged fellow. The way you give each character so much texture just boggles me. There's layers to your work! If I could reach into the drawing I swear i'd be able to peel the clothes away and touch his hair. Beautiful work, Lisa. It leaves me wanting to know more about him.

Thanks for the wonderful compliments, Jenn! I don't normally read romance novels but when a friend recommended the
"Outlander" series by Diana Gabaldon, I thought what the heck, I'll give it a try. The first book is over 600 pages long and the rest of the books in the series are longer but because they are so engrossing and well written they're actually a pretty fast read. I was trying to find a decent review to give you an idea of the story. This one's ok but doesn't tell you much about Jamie [link]
If you're ever looking for something good and a little different to read-I highly recommend this series
