Description This is another scratch built locomotive I just finished based on an engine that used to run in Maine on the Belfast & Moosehead Lake Railroad. The real locomotive, plus some additional rolling stock, were bought and delivered to the United States in 1994 to be used on the scenic railroad which I grew up around. So I decided to model the Swedish 'B'-class 4-6-0 named "Spirit of Unity" (the Maine town of Unity where the depot resides) in 1:32 scale for use on large scale model railroads. The model took 4 months to make and will run on battery power.

Looks awesome!

The last thing I've heard about the actual engine that it was carried out on a CN freight train.  I'm not what's really going to happen to her next.

She's now on display along with a few of the matching passenger cars at Discovery Park of America in Union City, TN. It's a shame they couldn't put her inside instead of being out in the elements.

Why did it end up there and will it ever work again?

The BML railroad's lease with the city ended and they'd rather have the rails torn up for a useless walking trail, therefore the railroad stopped operations and had to sell off their equipment. 1149 was supposed to go to the Great Smokey Mountain railroad but for whatever reason they sold it instead to Discovery Park of America for a static display. The top boiler tubes need to be replaced and have a new boiler certificate which would cost $100,000 to repair plus whatever else is required by the FRA. Too bad too since the engine is quite a remarkable and unique machine to have in the U.S.

Wow! I just wish she could run. again and she's another European steamer to be trapped in the states.
