Thank you for listing your materials! I've been having a very very difficult time trying to find the right material for the eye whites.

So, I'm trying to make something like this, but I'm having trouble with eyeholes: I don't know where to put them and I don't know how to hide them so that it doesn't look like the costume has any. Where should I put them so that they're unnoticeable?

Okay, so I've skimmed over all the comments and I don't think I've seen this question: Have you painted the plastic before? If so what kind of paint would you suggest using that would not flake or chip off?

I don't, because there really isn't any way to keep it from chipping off when touched.

Odd question. Is it possible to create an eye with central heterochromia using this method? Also, is it possible to use glow paint in these eyes and still see through them?

You can paint the eyes any way you want! I don't think buckram has a large enough surface area for glow in the dark paint to make a noticeable difference, but I haven't really tried it. I say test it out on a scrap and see how it is!

I have a question. when you paint it, doesn't the paint get stuck in the weave of the buckram makingit harder to see out of? How do you paint the back of it black without it bleeding through to the front?

Paint pens don't clog! Otherwise I just poke the paint through the holes with a pin since I use both tube acrylics and paint pens.

Any should be fine. I use Elmer's because that's what's readily available at my Jo-Ann.

I am having the trouble with the paint clotting the holes in areas causing it to be non see through. Could it be the brush I'm using or am I just using too much paint?

Some degree of that is normal, just stick a pin through the clogged holes before it dries fully. Or just use paint pens, they don't clog.

Yes, it's important to make sure you can see out of your costume, even if that means changing the shape a bit.

Should I paint the backside or the front side first?

How does the black not soak though onto the front?
👍: 0 ⏩: 1
colorexplosionderp In reply to AuroraInu [2016-09-25 18:04:46 +0000 UTC]
Because you paint the back part first, so the front sides paint covers up the black that come though the mesh
